hi everyone,jock newbie,no lcd display after new battery fit

hi everyone, davie here and im another newbie from scotlandshire, bought my 2008 (4c8) R1 a year ago and have managed to cover approx 300 miles since then..scotland remember.. great roads (except renfrewshire )but sh!te weather!!!. bike is pretty much standard apart from full akraprovic exh system, double bubble screen, aftermarket levers and bar grips.
had problems starting it recently and even after charging the battery it struggled to fire, new battery fitted yesterday and fired first time but seem to have lost the lcd display now..any ideas guy?

Welcome chief. Where abouts in Scotland are u? Usually a fuse blown like the guys say after a batty change. :dance:

im in johnstone, fuses are all ok btw..this morning when turned ignition on the tacho worked as normal but no lcd display. now tacho is stuck at 4500 rpm..have disconnectd battery but to no availl..also have checked wiring connectors (near fuse box) was told they sometimes get wet/corroded but they look ok to me. bike runs great.just i dont have a cunts clue wot speed,rpm or distance im doingl. clock was handy too lol

Hi bud,

I don't know if its the same on the 07-08, but on the 04-06 there is a big white connector under the right side ram air scoop that connects the clocks / lights etc to the main loom.

This connector is famous for corroding and causing headlight / LCD display faults.

Welcome in, as others have said its got to be a fuse or wiring somewhere.
Someone else posted a problem recently about their clocks, the rev counter was stuck at 8500rpm I am sure. Cant remember if he got it fixed or not though

welcome in buddy, your living at the wrong end o Scotland, we have had the driest year ever up here in ra Highlands lol, I did 6000 miles last year, as too your clock problem , try wit the lads are saying get the block connectors apart and clean em up and put back together with dia electric grease, enjoy the forum

yeah donny i have friends who live in plockton and it was dry there most of last year..even had a hose ban lol..as for the bike issue..i removed the left hand panel and split and cleaned the connector blocks but still nowt..will check for a connector block under th right side air scoop too Rizla. I remember seeing a post bout fella who had same issue but cant find post

took the clocks off there..now got it to red line lol..pal is gona take it to local yamaha dealer and hopefully try them out on another bike..btw the bike still starts and runs minus the complete clock unit
