Hi Guys
I am new to the forum and need a little help with luggage. I have a 2004 R1 (under seat exhaust) and am looking for a tail pack or possibly a tank bag. I don't need anything too big just enough for a 1 or 2-night stay. Can anyone recommend something suitable?

Ventura rack/brackets and Kriega bag are hard to beat.

I’ve got the brackets for my Tuono and 1299 and they’re brilliant. Keeps the luggage off the bodywork and it’s so easy to use.

The kriega bags are top quality. Went to the TT last year in torrential rain from Glasgow to Liverpool and when I got to the digs my stuff was bone dry

+ 2 for Kriega. I have had similar torrential runs up to Liverpool from the New Forest and contents was always bone dry.

Kriega do look nice .

i'm a cheap skate so i made this and it works a treat , cost me f**k all and i can strap a bag on to it

Yeah always makes me chuckle how front end happy it was on the way home

yeh alrlght!! they don't do heat resistant.
they go straight to the subframe Woody but if you're going to bungie something on top too don't do it to the tidy behind the exhausts.

I had a Ventura rack on a Suzuki triple in 1978! It was great, I used my tramping backpack and tied the frame to the rack.

You do know Ventura was originally from NZ?

I always buy a spare pillion seat and bolt a top box plate to it. Solo cowl or normal seat gets packed in the box for when you’re there, I can do about a week away with it, totally waterproof, doesn’t come loose and flap about.. great for track days too, throw the tools and warmers and a pair of shorts.
Only thing is, with the newer bikes the pillion seats have got smaller and flimsier so on the 15+ bikes I’ve added a couple of bolts through the plate into the subframe. Just takes an extra couple of minutes to remove.
I’ve got a few Kreiga bits too which I use on the trail bikes, they’re bloody good bits of kit and they do a clever securing system for them.

Is that with the helibars on? Do they move the position forward too or just flatten them up? Can't tell from below pic.

Never understood why standard r1 bars are so uncomfortable and race clippons are very comfortable.
Always fit them but they can have clearance issues that can take a bit of creative thinking to sort. This time it’s pushed my rds master in to the back of the headlight on full lock. Once fitted G you’ll wonder how you managed before.
