Hi all,

Just wanted to say hi and hoping to learn lots of things about my new/old 2000 R1 which I have just purchased, this will be about my fifth carbonated R1 since I got one back in 1999.

Still an animal - No electronics all the way!

Welcome taffy see you picked up a faster red one. Loads of good info on this site and remember there’s no such thing as a stupid question.Look out for the admin chimp he’s fairly harmless (although he does ask stupid questions).

Welcome to the forum. There's quite a few of us here with carbed R1's, they still go OK. I have a 99 that's done about 70,000 miles. I should probably change it for something newer with lower miles, but I've been thinking that for 3 years now and still have it.

Welcome in mate. That's a tidy looking bike, I very nearly bought myself one in the same colour scheme a few years back.

Welcome to the forum mate, beautiful bike you have there and I see she is one of the faster red ones, Clarky thinks the blue ones are fast... but he has never tried red.... oops... didn’t mean that to sound like that.... sorry red [emoji15]....

I think I’d better stop digging

Oh and re monkey face, we just throw him a banana every now and again, that kerosene him happy . He also likes the odd cup of tea

Thanks guys. Lovely welcome. I wi;l be uploading more soon. Looking for a steering damper at the mo. I know about the Ohlins with Harris kit ones but are there any alternatives that don’t require robbing a bank? I will post this in tech too. Thanks for the welcome again.

They pop up on eBay frequently I’ve seen them go for less than £150 with a fitting kit but this time of year they can go a lot higher.
There’s a couple on eBay now at around £200 ohlins with a Harris fitting kit and the kits polish up well without much effort. When you consider the damper alone is over £300 now I’d say that’s a fair price for this time of year.
