Hi All
New to this forum and new with yams
Having a collection of dukes I have entered the dark side and re building a R1 1999 5JJ. The bike has really been neglected and I am totally rebuilding it from a complete strip down. When I bought it all run ok and no overheating etc but when the oil was dropped it was black but not milky.
I have just re fitted all the coolant assembly, rad etc and filled the system but 2 days later when to fill the oil ready for its first start in about 5 months I have found the best part of 2 ltrs of coolant in the sump. The most obvious thing that comes to mind is the water pump seal has failed but need a second opinion.
appreciate any response
thanks

Welcome to the forum. I'd suggest you start a separate thread about the fault in the workshop section.

Welcome in Oliver
I would say if its definitely coolant then yes the water pump may be the place to start
