Hi everyone, I've just joined and live in Kent. I'm on the wrong side of 60 but ridden bikes since I was 16.
Currently have 4 bikes and recently bought an 2002 R1 with 4000 miles on it (carb edition) and it's in perfect condition having been stored for the last 12 years, just waiting for the lockdown to finish so I can go out on it.
I was looking for a Honda SP2 but the R1 looked to good to turn down.
Look forward to chatting to you soon.

Welcome to the forum Alan, you will have to post up some pics when you pick her up.
As for being on the wrong side of 60, you do realise, age is but a number and actually 60 is the new 40 [emoji4] and there are quite a few of us (me included) that are in your age bracket, our oldest members are in their 70’s... sorry ... now 50’s
Country to popular belief, this isn’t the Yamaha old people’s home, rather a close community of like minded bikers who share a passion for bikes, any bikes, even your Honda, but especially for Yamaha [emoji4]
Whilst I say we are a close community, there are no cliques on here, just loads of banter, joking and laughing. We have had some odd threads recently.. but I think that’s the price of lockdown and us being denied our bikes, but generally we all get along just fine...
And we have Father Jompy who keeps us all in check if we start squabbling...
So welcome to our biking community, I hope you don’t have long to wait until you can pick your bike up

A couple of pics of my 5jj R1 2002
I want to change the fork oil and not sure if I need any of those special tools
Is it just a matter of dropping the forks and un-doing the nuts on top.
Any info would be appreciated

Great pics Alan, thanks. Regarding changing fork oil, I haven’t a clue, but the more knowledgeable members in here will help, might be worth starting a new topic in how you change fork oil... that will ensure the members see it
Good luck with the oil change,
I’m not very technical, but I’m thinking if it was simple as just removing the top... I can imagine if I did that ... the spring would jump out like a jack in a box... but as I said... I’m about as technical as a monkey [emoji204]
