Hi, this is my first post on this Forum, my name is John and I live in Plymouth, Devon, i have been busy viewing for the last few days whilst waiting for this day when I pick up my new machine, I have just purchased my 5vy in Silver storm on a 05 plate with less than 6,000 miles and fsh, this is my first Litre Bike coming from a Triumph Speed Four, i Don't expect most of you guys have heard of the Speed Four, anyway I'm chuffed with the R1, feels like a real classy lady who will scratch my eyes and kick me in the gonad's if i upset her!!!

Thanks guy's for the warm welcome, i intend to use this forum often for advice and general chat, i have already been reading the various categories and know it's going to be interesting and fun. I am planning on keeping my 5vy for a few years and just tweak her a little over this time, a new Tail tidy is first on my list and then a seat Cowl, the seat cowl will need to be an original part so i know patience will be needed, Two brothers or Akropovic tail pipes would be nice but......£££££ :(

Hi fellas, i didn't mean to insult anyone when i first introduced myself on this forum saying that i thought no one had probably heard of the Triumph Speed Four, i stand corrected that you are a knowledgable bunch, i thought i would post a photo of my Speed Four, it is a great bike that i was thinking of keeping but due to funds the trusty steed will need a new owner, i will be sad to sell as it was my first proper bike and never missed a beat. I will be interested to read all of your comments what you honestly think of my old mistress!! my feelings can't be hurt. Image

She's nice John I've always liked the speeds if I had to choose on looks the tripples tubular frame and stubby rear end wins it for me but both very nice bikes ;)

I agree Luke, the Speed Four is a marmite bike, the newer Triumph models do look a bit classier as do the Japanese versions, i do think tho that The speed Four set the bench mark for many of todays modern naked sports bikes with its small cockpit fairing, radiator covers etc, guess tho that i'm biased as i loved owning the bike and it has given me 4 years of enjoyable riding.
