Afternoon All... just thougt I'd say hello as I've just joined. Just returned to two wheels after a couple of years away from biking, I've had a few bikes the last being a brand spanking ZX6 B1H which I loved... I was adamant I wasnt getting another sports bike until an immaculate R6 turned my head... so I am the proud owner of 06 plated 5sl, one owner bike with only 12k on the clock. To say I Iove the bike would be an understatement, even if it is a tad on the quiet side with the standard pipe.
Cheers
Cass

Hahaha... cheers lads!
How do they compare.... well, if this makes any sense, they are the same but different. Both exactly what you expect a sports 600 to be, but the differences I have seen so far with only a few miles under my belt... The R6 is a smaller bike, physically not as tall which suits me better being on the shorter side (5ft8"). Certainly not as cramped as the 636, the pegs are certainly lower on the R6 wich makes it comfier and I certainly dont feel as much weight on your wrists as you do with the 636. The 636 does have bit more shove mid-range as expected, but the R6 feels like it revs quicker so they feel as quick as each other, on the road anyway. I cerainly dont feel like its disadvantaged power wise. The one thing I did notice straight away was the handling.... they both turn quick, but on the 636 it sort of gave the impression of it was dropping away from you and if you werent used to it, the sensation could catch you out as if you were going to fall... The R6 doesnt have that and I feel because of that it gives that extra confidence when tipping it in to a corner. On the R6 I feel the wind blast a lot more, seems to hit me right in the head, but that could just be the screen thats on it (I'll be ordering another to see if it makes a difference). My mate still has a 636 and we had a bit of a swap round on the way back when I picked it up and he was of a similar opinion. It'll be interesting to see how they compare a little down the line with a few more miles on it.
I've recitified the noise issue and ordered another pipe!
Cheers
Cass
