Hey!

Well here i am! Just got me a 5PW so thought i had better come here!

I had a tuned slabby 1100 for the past 7 years but when someone offered me £4k for it i just couldnt say no! So in the market for a new bike and with £4k burning a hole in my pocket i went bike shopping. Mainly due to the article in PB a 5PW was on the list along with a GSXR K3.

I found a blue 5PW on Ebay about 30 miles from me and a deal was done. 7500 miles from new and loads of history, service stamps etc. Its very clean but does have a small crack on the tail by the left side rear peg but if you didnt know it was there you wouldnt see it.

Its currently running a horrible stubby can that i will be changing as soon as i can then off to a dyno for set up.

But thats enough for now, im off out to ride it!

Spend a bit of time getting the bike right for me. Adjusted the levers as they were just a tiny bit out of place for me. Sorted the free play on the clutch and throttle cables to my personal preference and generally made the bike fit me better. Little things like this can make a huge difference to how a bike feels and how you feel riding it. Now its ready to ride!

Had a nice little ride out on it this afternoon. Stopped off at Race Engineering in Great Dunmow and booked it in for a Power Commander and custom map and a K&N. Gives me just over a week to source and fit a new can but i have one in mind so that shouldnt be a problem.

Any ideas on what numbers i should get with a custom map and can? Im guessing 140ish? Not that the numbers are important, its how it delivers and with a custom map im expecting it to be smoooooth..... :D

Hes going to overlay the finished dyno chart with the one he has for my old Slabby that he built for me. That had 135hp at the wheel on his dyno, it will be interesting to compare the power and torque graphs.

isn't 5PW 150bhp standard? Mines has a power commander, can etc which I'm hoping to be nearer the 160 bhp mark.

Hello btw :D

Im talking rear wheel horsepower as read on a dyno not crankshaft power.

I think a stock 5PW will put out around 130 at the wheel. But no doubt theres people on here with far more knowledge of such things.
