Newbie from South Wales.

Hi all,
In the process of getting a 01 R1 next week so thought I come along and see what all the fuss is about. Currently own a ducati 749, great bike just fancy a change. previous bikes as follows.
Rizla Moto gp gsx1000, Zx10 04 model, Z1000, cbr1000rr, hayabusa, zx6, zzz 600, Honda cb750, Suzuki gs425, z550, Bentley 250, Honda super dream.
Never tried a yam as of yet.

Thoughts of the R1 so far.
More upright riding position than the duc and more sitting on top of the front wheel.
Bloody hell mirrors, I can see what's behind me, still keep looking over my shoulder though.
Engine is bloody good turbine like power were the duc was raw power.
Exhaust note...duc wins sorry.
Comfort, apart from the numb fingers the R1 wins hands down.
Acceleration and sense of speed....r1 wins again
Brakes on par with the brembo of the duc.
Wow factor at the mo half and half but I do love the R1..

there's some lovely roads down south wales but also a few coppers on the popular routes near brecon
