Right, I simply had to do this...

The mrs has bought me some California race school vouchers as I wanted to get into track days so I went on the hunt for a cheap track bike.. but what I actually bought was nothing short of a hell of a find..

2003 5PW R1

1 local owner from new with original purchase receipt of 9.5k

Less than 6000 genuine miles, backed up by the VOSA, mot and service history (I checked it all with a fine tooth comb and all came back as genuine!) I also took it to a local garage who knew the bike and owner, he rarely used the bike and was more of a trophy until he came into money issues and just sorned the bike but bought it to the shop for an mot and a once over by the guys. They said it was a time warp as the bike never changed! The bloke just adored it! Its always good to hear an honest and reliable garage say a bike is a good bike!

In excellent condition! Totally unmodified. Great find!!

As I say this was meant to be a track bike but it might be too good?? Ive now ordered a few bits for it, new tank pad and seat cowl but very interested in any bits anyone has, especially an exhaust!!

let me know what you all think, pics to come!!

Agreed PJC.. Too nice, may have the odd track day on it but it is too nice.

I won't say exactly what I paid for it but when I went to the garage he said I should have paid double for it.

Quick question though, it feels very twitchy, low speed corners are wobbly and it moves a lot at the rear, is this normal, ie just the bike giving me feedback? My tyres are fine. Any thoughts?

I got a great bike for why I paid for.

Took it to the garage, they say there's nothing wrong, it's just because its lighter than I'm used to

usual stuff , it's been stood a while so how old are the tyres & tyre pressure . bearings & bush's & what ever sh!t holds them together should be fine as it's low millage . . . . . .that would be my thoughts
