Hi there, I've got 4xv R1 1999 model in red and white. Had her since new and currently working on giving her a new lease of life. Any ideas on anything I've missed would be good

Already done / Being done

Complete strip and a few weekends with t-cut and a cotton buds on the swingarm, frame ect.
Fairings treated and polished with fresh decals
Micro indicators front and rear ( wanted flush at the front but refuse to damage the fairing )
Titanium quick release D ring fasteners on the middle fairing top and bottom
Titanium standard button heads screws on mudguard and hugger
New original screws and clips on tail unit
Titanium exhaust hanger bolt and all caliper hanger bolts
Titanium akrapovic race downpipes
Carbon akrapovic end can
K&N air filter
Stage 1 dynojet
QB carbon airbox
New front and rear calipers + HEL lines + Quick release banjo bolts + brembo pads
Braking wave disk's front and rear + titanium disk bolts
Titanium rear axle nut
Harris chain adjusters
Harris exhaust hanger bracket
White and red custom made handle bar grips
Harris adjustable clip ons
Race adjustable rearsets
Maxton custom rear shock
Maxton revalve and overhaul of forks + change the fork bottom to a gloss back and re anodise the top's + titanium nitride legs
HID system
Pazzo adjustable short brake and and regular clutch levers
New heat shielding inside the fairing
Smoked double bubble screen
Quick action throttle
Original solo seat cowl in white
Wheels stripped and repainted in gloss black + complete fresh bearings and cushdrive rubbers

Not sure mate, maybe a quickshifter at some stage. The goal was never to see how many parts I can bolt to her, it was to make her as perfect a version of the breed. The suspension was thought to be the answer to the flighty handling on B rds, but i'm going to have to have another words with Maxton over the winter as the high speed damping is spot on but at lower speeds it's a lurching beast ( and you can't go everywhere at a ton plus ). No need to do anything more with the brakes once the combination of braking disk and brembo pads was found, the first time I used them I slid the front and lifted the rear without trying. Still on the lookout for a complete downpipe and exup valve to try out back to back with the race system, I've a feeling the exup version had more power from lower revs and mid range where as the race system is definatly giving more at the top end.

Steering head bearings if they havnt been done, steering damper , an oil change and if you have the engine out might be an idea to check and adjust the shims, again if its never been done.

I'm thinking steering damper as although I've not needed one in 14yr I must admit my brave levels have certainly dropped, gone are the days when coming out of a corner with her shaking her head in disapproval, these days I want her to come out the corner just as fast but without the temper tantrums lol, another reason why I gave Maxton the job of sorting the bouncy bits.

I've recently caught up with an old friend who's riding a rvf400, can't wait until next summer when I can show him the error of his thinking, he firmly believes that on the rd his machine will keep up with the r1 on the rd, he admits it will pull away on the straights but thinks he can pull it back on the twisties. ( You have much to learn young grasshopper me thinks )

Depends on how twisty the road is and how quick he is tbf I'd like one on the road

Don't forget to have the air corrector jets blocked off in the carbs if you are running a Qb airbox. Rhen Cullen at Hinckley did mine years ago & made a good job of it. Also if you think your brake set up is good then try a set of Pfm 6 pots & ductile discs. The difference is night & day.

Are suspension and tyres. I have looked into other discs , calipers and ms but if the bike can stand on its head and you can lock the front up then what more can these extras do on the road.
