Just bought my first R1. Had a fewbikes but never an R1. Its a 99 4xv in red and white and seems to go ok. I'm told that it has had another engine due to the bores splitting (apparently common) and I have the remainder of the old engine in bits. It has a load of non standard parts on it that I would like to change, like the tail tidy (not a fan) and tiny led front indicators (again not a fan). Harris rear sets (don't mind), chromed front brake resevoir cap (not a fan) and a few other parts.

I will get along with it just now but will want to change these and maybe some other parts.

If anyone has standard red and white parts for the 4xv then I would be grateful to hear from you.(bet admin don't like this line)

Welcome to the site Paul and please post some pics... We love pics go bikes on this site. Members are friendly and someone on here will always be able to provide an answer to any bike related question you may have.

I've only been in to the Yamaha scene for a year now but that's the first time I've heard of that "common" problem with any R1. Possibly it is true, maybe someone can shed some more info on that.

4XV's are great bikes but make sure you give the Exup a good check there should be a thread on it if you do a search or atleast plenty of info , watch the allen bolts that hold the exup cover on as they can sheer off & a steering damper is a good idea

Yeh, not really happy with him. He was meant to be sending me some other bits like the rear seat, but nothing. Will put some pics up soon.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll just muddle through buying bits or swapping bits out for standard stuff if I can. Going round for a cuppa might be the answer!
