About to get an R1, advice please!

Hi everyone,
I am a honda owner through and through but I am about to swap my beloved 929 Blade for a 1999 R1.
I was wondering if anyone had some advice as I am curious at to whether I am getting a good deal.
I am doing a straight swap for the R1.
My blade is a year 2000 929RR.
22K on the clock
Tax and mot till march/April
Extras like hugger, bar ends, race can, seat cowl etc.
lovely codition and service history.
The R1 is a 1999 model.
26K on the clock
Mot till June
Getting tax the day I get it
Full service history
Brand new tyres
Just been fully serviced
Loads of extras like hugger, akra exhaust, gold engine and fairing bolts etc.
thatcham approved alarm
Datatag
Mint condition.
What does everyone think to the swap, am I getting a good deal here and anything I should look out for?

Whats the HONDA
..... worth ?
We've seen several nice lower mileage 4xv's go for under £2000! admittedly out of season EDIT why not check in our for sale section for reference
no HONDA'S in there obviously

Dare I admit it but I used to be a Honda man through and through, yep that's my credibility gone.... But I did see the light and changed over to R1's 10 years ago, never looked back, their build quality and reliability will rival anything honda can produce and the Yamaha's have a soul ..... I can't tell you if you are getting a good deal but I do believe you will love the R1. I know this isn't much help, but good luck .

Haha Hondas aren't that bad
Well I wanted about £2000 for my blade but because of the low tax and MOT I was going to let it go for £1750/£1700
I had a look on eBay and that and R1's similar to the one I'm getting are generally going for a fair bit more than blades like mine, so I'm thinking I'm getting a good deal but I'm completely new to Yamaha's so I'm not too sure
My gut feeling says I'll be doing well with a straight swap though

Haha I thought it was a bit dodgy saying that I was too, felt like I was feeding myself to the wolves
Fair enough, I've just never thought about changing from Hondas but I checked the reviews when I got offered the R1 and they were so highly reviewed and reviewed much higher than 929 blades I thought I would go for it, their faster, have more torque, better on fuel and cheaper on insurance, according to the reviews
The only thing that slightly put me off was the mileage but I've heard that if they've been well looked after and have a full service history these R1's can last forever!

Well I've fed myself to the wolves so well
I had 65,000 trouble free miles out of a 5vy and 45,000 out if a 4c8, they go on and on, I can't praise them enough

It all depends on how much you want the R1 ! I payed slightly over the odds for my R1 but then it was love at first sight . All the R1's seem to be very reliable unless abused but yours sounds low millage so it would be ok . When abused 2nd gear can be an issue with it jumping out , Exup valves need checking & cleaning but watch you don't snap the studs on the Exup cover ! Steering damper is a good idea as the front-end gets light & loose under acceleration ( not funny when you hit 120 you go over a slight bump or rise & the front end gets out of shape lol )
I've never ridden the blade but some of the faster riders say that the blade is so smooth in the handling it seems almost boring but the R1 takes more input but is rewarding .
The 4xv's errrr wake up when you hit 8000rpm so hold on lol , mines smooth all through the rev range so city traffics not a problem .
Sounds like you really want the R1 , hope your not disappointed , don't think you will be

Right I see, I've heard about a few jumping out of second gear actually but the guy said this one doesn't. He also said that he has always checked and adjusted the exhaust valve and has ownened the R1 twice now because he sold it then saw it for sale and had to buy it again. So I think he knows his stuff with R1's which is good.
Yep I've heard R1's can be a bit crazy, I might invest in a steering damper at some point.
I must say the R1 I should be getting does look lovely, it's in blue and looks absolutely mint condition. In the pics it looks like a new bike and with the styling you wouldn't believe it's a 15 year old bike!
I am really up for getting it now and the guy is meant to be delivering it for me on Thursday so I hope it all goes through and the trade goes smoothly

Welcome in Will.
The r1 sounds good, stonking mid range power over the honda
Be sure the gears are ok before you swap as it is costly replacing bent dogs , take a good look at the rear n front sprockets as the jumping causes clawed teeth on the cogs and is a good give away

Looks like a fair deal if the R1 is all ok, 929s do have gearbox problems when they get to higher mileages, so probably a good time to get rid
