Potential New R1 owner

Hello, I'm thinking about buying an 07MY R1 in white and red.
I've been riding for 3 years and the R1 will be the biggest bike I'll have ridden.
I mostly rode v-twins, Suzuki SV as my first bike then Ducatis after that. I've done only one track day at Castle Coombe and do most of my riding on the road.
When I first started to notice motorcycles the R1 was the beast that couldn't be tamed and had stuck with me as a dream bike since then.
Any way, I'll let you know if I go for the bike and hopefully I'll be around a bit more.

Welcome in mate. I like the 4C8 but don't like the red seat on the red/white one. Only my opinion though. I have a red framed 14B so what do I know.

Steve your bike is beautiful. Don't you have it any more?
I'm looking at the type with the red rear seat and slightly different paint scheme.

I decided not to go for the R1 in the end. I just don't trust myself and I don't think I've got enough road time yet.
I went for an 08 R6 instead. Also in red and white.
I'll try and find how to submit pictures and I'll show you.

The R6 is a very quick and nimble bike. You're going to have a lot of fun with it.

Proper sexy Dude, love the R6, give it a year and the 4C8 will be perfect for you. Costs a few quid to get her right but well worth the journey

I'm going to keep it completely standard apart from, perhaps, a slip on. I might get a flash tune if I think it worth while.
I had a project for a Ducati 749 underway but it became impossible to get insured and I had to cancel it. I've got a bunch of high performance Ducati parts in my house from digital dashes to carbon fairing and slipper clutches to full Ti systems and I can't use any of them as I can't get insured. The R6 is beautiful as she is and the insurance is cheap.
To put it in perspective... a 107bhp 749S with a lot of cosmetic modifications and a few power mods including a blueprinted engine was £10,000 to insure and that's the only quote I could get. An R1 was £700 fully comp, an R6 £400.
If anyone has some gilles rear sets for an R6 2008 they'd like to swap for a set of Ducati 749 Gilles rear sets in gold let me know.
Otherwise they'll be going on eBay.

i wasn't really fussed about them till Jen bought me some for my birthday but a nice set of quality levers are great & you get a smoother action & better feel than the oem
