Hi!

Thought I'd better come on and introduce myself. I'm Jay from near Liverpool. I've just picked up an 04 5VY Track/Race bike and thought I'd join you guys to try and learn from the wealth of knowledge held amongst you.

I've been riding 5 years or so, had a few different bikes but really cut my teeth on a CBR600. Having reached where I feel is a good bench mark on track with it I decided to take the step up to thousandhood with an R1. I must say I love it!

It's an immaculate low mileage bike with V5. Only thing I have found wrong with it is the RHS RAM Intake duct is cracked and blows out above 140mph.. So I'm on the hunt for a replacement. But its proving harder than I'd hoped to find one! I guess these are the first things to break in a spill :?

Thanks for the warm Welcome :D Never one to turn down an excuse for some picture whoring!

Here's a couple of pics of my new toy for you.

I'm 6'2 and this bike definitely fits me better than my CBR. Whilst it was a great all rounder and held its own well in the fast group I always felt a little cramped on it!

Image

Current spec list that I can think of off the top of my head is as follows:
04 5VY
Race fairings
QAT
GB Moto adjustable Rear Sets
Woodcraft Clip Ons
HEL Braided Lines
Ohlins TTX Rear Shock
KTech fork uprgrade with springs and S20 cartridge kit.
Ohlins Damper
Renthal Chain and Sprockets
Stomp Grips
Power Commander
Akrapovic Cans
BMC Filter
HM Quickshifter
Brembo MC
Brembo Pads
Harris QR Fuel Cap
Carbon Hugger
Gear Indicator
Etc etc etc

Decent platform I feel for a Track/Race bike which was always my intention with this ;)

Plans are to strip all the fairings off and give it a proper spanner check before I use it in anger sorting out a couple of niggly issues, like replace the cracked RAM air intake. Then possible decat and a set of Velocity stacks with a custom map if I feel the need for more power!

Hope you like :D

And the best bit? This beauty is my wedding present from the Mrs

Cool mate! Get a pic of yours up so I can have a look!

I put an Ohlins rear shock on my last bike and KTech Fork internals which made a HUGE difference as it was so soft as standard. This one certainly seems very nimble. More so than I was expecting but I have nothing to compare it as it came with all the upgrades on it. I have no idea what map is on my PC. I haven’t even looked to see if its there yet! I was told it had a custom map on it but have no way of confirming this. I don’t know if there is a way to tell once it’s been plugged in?

Have you done any trackdays on yours? And if so, where have you done?

I waited almost 5 years for an air intake for mine, didnt want to pay the extortionate prices at the dealer.
If you plug the power commander in to a laptop it might say what it was dynod with ie. cans, filter maybe even have the date when it was done.
Cant really remember what it looks like when viewed on the pc, my maps were named in the files, but dont know if I only done this when I saved them.

Hi mate and welcome, that's a beautiful bike. As hash says ask any questions, the only daft question is one that's not asked.

Welcome in
