Hi all, I am located in North Norfolk and have a 1999 R1 with a few mods which I mainly use for track days. Current mods so far, 03 calipers, Harris clip ons, hyper pro damper, Hel braided hoses, harris rear sets, sigma slipper clutch, scorpion exhaust, Maxton rear shock, Maxton front fork conversion, single seat conversion. I was looking for some advice on some none adjustable Pro mach Triple Clamps which take all the oem parts, Ignition, brake reservoir etc, I have no stem but after measuring everything I think a standard 4xv stem & forks will fit.I think they are 31 degree off set but trying to get info from pro mach is impossible. Is any one familiar with these? I have a set of standard forks that had a Maxton conversion 3 years ago so are probably due a service, but was wondering would my money be better spent by fitting a newer set forks with radial brakes and would they work and not mess up the geometry?

Think a common mod was to fit yokes from a 5pw as it has a similar result,i think there is more than 1 model of Promach yokes so depends which one you have looked at/intend to buy

I too have heard of the 03 R1 replacement yokes, but I already have the triple clamps and I think they are made as a direct replacement for the standard ones as they have the ignition barrel aperture and brake reservoir fixing point but with a 31 degree offset instead of the original 24. I was told the 31 degree offset was used When David Jefferies did the 2000 TT? Does this sound right or some crazy wifes tale? Has anyone used these before or currently using them? I have found plenty of people using the adjustable ones which dont have the ignition aperture or brake reservoir bracket..

Not too sure on the actual offset tbh,if you PM R1 Aoc im sure alan will point you in the right direction as he worked for V&M,he also knows one or two things about the 4xv lol

+1 i aint got a scooby doo about your Prp Mach's but i was going to say if he's not busy r1aoc may well know as he's the fountain of all 4xv knowledge

its the fork offset in mm not degrees, 31mm was the V&M secret at the time DJ was doing the TT, later 5PW yokes are 25mm offset, not close enough.... original 4XV are 35mm offset

Thank you for correcting me on the degree/mm, makes sense now. I need to change the bearings anyway so I'm going to fit these Promachs in time for my next track day and see how they feel and let you know if there's really any difference or more to the point if some one of my average ability can actually feel the difference! Will post some photos when its done. Whats your thought on fitting later model radial forks and are there much variation in length in each model?

I would guess your ProMach yokes would be the 31mm offset as you say they are made for the 4XV.. its not hard to measure offset......



I was told by a guy that works for Harris a few years ago not to use the later 5PW R1 25mm offset 02/03 yokes on a 4XV as the frame on this model has a different head angle to go with the 25mm offset and shorter forks, thats where I heard about the 31mm offset being the 'one' for a 4XV, the later forks are a larger diameter 43mm vs 41mm on the 4XV so they wont fit in your ProMach yokes anyway.......
I wouldn't worry about radial calipers just get yourself a radial master cylinder, a 16mm jobby from a later R1 would be perfect with your calipers

The stanchions are larger diameter on the later forks but the outer leg is the same, I have 5vy legs in 5jj yokes
