hi all, newbie here from perth scotland, i bought my r1 on boxing day after a year with a 2000 r6, wanted the bigger brother, the r6 was good but it just wasnt an r1! anyways after a look of searching i found a mint 2000 5jj that had been bought by a printing company in blue but had been resprayed in kenny roberts colours with a slight change, the bottom of the fairing is yellow and the wheels are yellow, looks better in my mind, pops out more but is a nightmare to keep the wheels clean! it sat in the reception of said business for 9 years until they went bust and put her up for sale, so i have ended up with, for £2900, a mint r1 with 3500 miles on her, she has a full yoshimura system on her, custom race hump and seat and stunning paint job, pics will be to follow. can someone help me though, i decided to stubby the exhaust can and am not happy with the sound, i wanted deeper but just got louder lol, can i repack it or what is a good stubby can to put on that wont cot the earth and will give a bit more gruffness, thanks guys

Well seeing as your newbie post was so good you'd best find the relevant sections of the forum & ask away , we'll try to find some one that knows wtf they're on about to give you an answer

haha am i getting grief for naming my bike?? shes called sunshine cos shes yellow and like the sunshine she makes me smile. a bike is not just a bike to me, its an extention of my personality, its part of me, and when i turn that key to on and fire her into life, she is a living, (fire) breathing monster..... so to that end, she deserves a name!! deal with it!!

dyo know you guys are the only ones who have commented like this because i choose to name my bike "sunshine". i find it quite saddening that i join a forum for owners and enthusiasts of the same type of machine only to be ridiculed!! sorry guys but yous can all go f**k yerselfs, after you take a look in the mirror and see a cyber bully looking back at you. if i need any info on "sunshine" i shall google it. by the way, up here sunshine is referred to as what the sun does when it shines!! so, bye bye and thankyou for reminding me why i never join forums.

Lee I could not have put it into better words myself mate, I totally agree with what you have said. I think sunshine is a nice name for your bike . Mine are Vicky the R1 and Vicky the R6 if peeps don't like it ... Tough, I'm not doing anyone any harm and like you, I think of the bike as an extension of me, when we are riding we a as one, man and machine. My aim in life is that my bikes should be looked after, cared fir and given a good life where they get to experience all types of roads and tracks, I've even taken them on holiday and out fur the odd day, they too get bored with just going back and to to work

I think a few good racers also share our sentiments.
