Yes boys names Taz. Joined mainly cos I'm looking for information. Plan on doing a CBT soon and then get full licence and buy a Yamaha/Honda bike in the near future. Have no bike experience at all. Watched a video and I'm pretty sure I can ride a bike to perfection ;)
But yeah I'm mainly here cos I'm looking to get informed before making big decisions in life.
Have a good day boys

Hi Taz,

Good luck with your CBT, that will give you an idea if bikes are fir you or not, get some good training pass your test and ask peeps on here fir advice. You may not always like what we say, but our advice is given from the heart, we have been there, done it and got the t shirt and scars to show fur it. For example if you were to say you wanted to buy an R1 as your first bike, everyone on here would advise against it, if you were after a YZF R125 then that would be a different story. We have oscar on here fro Sweden he rides an R125 and will have lots of advice to give you.

The thing is we are here fir you to use as a sounding board.

So good luck and let us know how you get on.

Welcome in Taz
As Steve said get your CBT booked , biking isn't for everyone & it can be a steep learning curve , passing your test is just the start to the real learning .
You will love biking it's hard to describe to a non biker !
What ever you do or buy good luck :)

Compulsary basic training. A must have if you want any form of two wheeled motorised transport in Uk. Its a course, lasts a day, learn very little IMO but you have to do it.

it's to make sure you remember to put your feet down when you stop & of cause to show you where the brakes are , if they think you're not going to kill your self in a few days they then alow you to ride on "L" plates , like your "P" plates i think

You need to be gripping the tank with your knees mate to stop that. Stomp grip helps ... Or were you joking and it's gone over my head again

Well that's another forum member lost as you guys can't stop talking about cock and balls! if you are still here Taz, welcome in mate. My advice would be pass your CBT and then do lessons don't just piss about for 2 years then resist your CBT. Also a lot of people don't realise the financial cost of biking i.e. lessons, tests, riding gear etc before you even get a bike. Good luck it's well worth doing.

Cheers guys haha. Yeah I know it's costly and I'm somewhat prepared for it. As a kid I used to cycle an obscene amount and always loved it through the blood sweat and tears so I'm guessing motorbikes should be my thing but we shall soon see. Are lessons like driving lessons or can you get away with doing fewer lessons? I've been driving for 2 years now and am road smart. Think I may have to dip into another thread lol

I think most people do a 3-5 day course then sit their test

Welcome Taz, sorry about the thread hijack.

It is such a drama to learn to ride now that I admire anyone who decides to do it. It is worth it though, good luck.

Welcome in bud, I took lessons over a few months then Mod1 and Mod2 tests with direct access as I was (slight;y)^^ over 24, a mate of mine took the 5 day course, he had his Mod1 booked on the monday morning, the Mod2 booked for the afternoon, he failed the Mod1, wasnt allowed to sit Mod2 due to failing first part, lost his test fee so bear that in mind as sh!t happens sometimes.

Cheers John

Its basically the same as cars. Some people are naturally good and pick everything up quickly and others need more time.
Do your CBT and see how you get on and take it from there.
If you have a bike , get out on it as often as you can after passing the CBT and then you might need fewer lessons.
