newbie from derbyshire here.
hopefully picking up my 5jj saturday if my sale all goes through ok wednesday.
sold my 2002 rsv mille at the weekend, should get the cash wednesday then its off to york saturday to pick my beloved up.
this will be my 3rd r1,having previously owned a blue 98 s reg back in 2001,then a brand spanking new 2003 inj model shortly after that, also in blue/white.
had a few blades an xjr1300,a genesis fzr1000 and 2 rsv milles inbetween, but so glad to be going back to my 1st love that got me into road riding in 2001,
the fantastic r1.
its a shame shes not in original colours but does look fantastic in virgin race rep colours and has a very nice akrapovik race can, harris damper and a few other bits.
ill stick some pics up when i get her.
forgot to add,shes a 5jj with a 19k mile 4xv engine fitted.

fzr was a great bike for its age, rode very well too.
alot have been and gone due to going through/paying for ivf treatment for the wife,
took 9yrs then on the very last chance,we got our son,jak who is 3 in april.
all my mates, brother, dad sold up and quit riding but i never could.
its in my blood.
between them all,ive never loved a bike like the very 1st one i had, that r1.
bought it at 21yrs of age,it sat in the garage while i did my cbt,and then direct access.
tried all other bikes but none have come close tbh bud.
my brother had a silver/grey 04 r1 and best pal had the 08 r1,but mate has given up riding (good job,or he'd be dead, rode like a crazy fool)
and my bro now has a hardly davidson 48?!
dad had glaucoma,so he no longer rides,at one point,me my dad and brother all had r1's and rode out together.
i just ride alone now,but i cant be without a bike, and the charging system on the aprilias drives me nuts,
along with sprag clutches ect.
very good bikes with a lot of character but fek me,toss a coin as to wether itll start or not,
even with upgraded selenoid and higher cca battery!
i do get fed up fast, and revert to getting a nice car, scooby or something but it always comes back to bikes!
and this r1 will be going no where...ever!
i love them to bits.

true mate, had loads of failed goes, got caught once inbetween and managed to 20wks
then got told the baby had no limbs at all and everything was wrong, head, brain ect and that he wouldnt survive birth.
it kills you mentaly, the hope then expectation then failure and loss.
hardest thing ive ever had to do or probably will do.
then the last go,just as we were about to call it a day and accept being childless,we got jak.
still horrible all through the pregnancy expecting the worse,as you would.
then at birth he got stuck, emergency c sec after hours in labour,
then born not breathing,he was in hospital for 2 week in an incubator before i could hold him.
now he's 3 and a naughty swine lol, wouldnt change a thing bless him.
sorry, back to bike stuff lol, bringing the mood down here.

Welcome to the forum Matt , cracking first post and good pics too. When bikes are in your blood, they are in forever

you have clearly been bitten by the R1 bug and I hope your new one lives up to your expectations.
Enjoy the forum and the banter, and enjoy your family, as that's what life is all about, kids are amasing we teach them to walk and talk and then tell them to sit down and be quiet
So welcome to the forum
Stephen

I think they'll do any design you want but you'd have to look through the forum for a link , I'm sure booster bought standard colours for his 5jj , he had a thread in the projects section

Cheers buddy.found some on ebay in original scheme.
i work nights 6 nights a week so havent had chance to look at all the good stuff i want to on here.
i guess the problem will be the tank will still say virgin on it (lol could be a good advert?!)
The bikes been on here before,si crowe, realy bice bloke, engine went,so he fitted the 98 engine into it.
ive just found his old posts and threads.
Realy looks after his bikes and they have to be spot on for him.a friend of his passed away who owned the bike so he bought it from the widow, bless her.

He is a cracking bloke tbh.kept me upto speed everyday with loads of detailed pictures to keep me drooling till i can fetch her.
a decent genuine bike mad bloke.
Nice to see his posts on here too regarding the trouble he had when the engine went pop and the refitting of the 98 engine into the 2000 bike.
Somewere along the line the oil warning light ended up disconnected by all accounts so the bike got run with no oil, hence the need for a new engine.
this engine has only done 20k,
had a new exup valve and all dyno prints, running genuine 136bhp at the back wheel so its a good healthy powerplant.
Just need it here NOW lol.
