Evening all,
New to this forum, and looking at getting myself an R1 2004 in the near future.
Previously rode YZF600R Thundercat until very polite gentleman decided to introduce himself half way round a roundabout
Bike was written off and on looking for new bike have fallen for the 2004 R1 and currently awaiting funds clearing to get feet on the ground and full on recce!
Being drawn between Lava Red & Racing Blue but will ultimately come down to value and quality once in front of me! At least a little, sure head will be overruled a bit!!
I'm 39 for another 2 weeks and look forward to good nosey around!!

Welcome to the forum James and join in with the banter. As the guys have said, we love pics on here, they don't just have to be an R1 put one up of your thundercat before it died, was it called Liono by any chance?
I had a lava red 2004 R1 and it was a fantastic bike, look in the 5vy section on here and that will tell you all about them .... Any questions you have just ask, loads of us either own or have owned one, so we can tell you what to look for.
To post pics, you ned to host them in photobucket and copy the img link into your post. Here is a pic of mu 5vy some years ago....
Good luck in finding the right 5vy for you , join in the banter and welcome
Stephen

Nice one mate. Grew up a blue nose myself but gave up on the game years ago. Best of luck finding your new bike.

Welcome in Gigsy
You just gotta love the 5vy & i think you'll get a bike shock when you hit the "power band" because that what it is ! i've never ridden a 5vy but if it's anything like the 4xv/5jj it'll have plenty of smooth usable torque & then one hell of a punch .

Having a 5vy you won't be disappointed. Great bike for road or track. Price will range from 3k to 4.5k I guess. Then you can spend the same again getting it how you want it [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY][FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY][FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

Cheers for all comments guys, really looking forward to getting cash in bank so can get putting miles in looking for new bike, everyone speak to tells me gonna be big, big jump from Thundercat, which I'd guessed and said it will put biggest grin on face!!
This was the old one before getting written off, had just finished strip down clean refresh rebuild on Friday, written off following Saturday so itching to get out riding again!
