Hey guys.
I'm a new member. Just found the forum while trying to find an answer to an issue.
I ride a 2008 4c8 r1.
It's my 5th bike as I'm only 25. 26 on Friday.
2 were 50's 1 was a 125. 4th was my zx6r. Restricted for 2 years to 33bhp. Then 3 years de restricted.
I bought my r1 last August.
But I have been a Yamaha fan for as long as I can remember.
I live in Wiltshire uk.
And have a Facebook page called "South west bikers" to meet new riders in my area.
Think that's about it :P

Thank you for the birthday wishes.

Absolutely love the R1.
Had a few issues though.
Exup servo and cables were shot. so iv got an eliminator fitted now.
Im on my second new rear tyre as i picked up a puncture after less than 200 miles on my first new one.
I had to pay for new front wheel bearings, head race bearings and front wheel spindle after having it checked over at my local dealer.
They also advised me to get rid of it because the clutch is noisy. They think its the clutch basket. But they were very keen to trade it in against a brand new model
So i had "The super bike surgeon" come to have a look who advised me that its a common fault but they are noisy bikes anyway, And replacing the basket might not make a difference anyway.
And now i have a bumpy sensation from the rear, which I'm hoping is down to the tight spot in my chain (couldn't afford a chain at the time).

But still love the machine. And refuse to get rid of it.

Looks tidy does that mate - although I'd have to get some black rearsets ;)

Or maybe gold :)

Im thinking of changing all the gold to white. The wheels are chipped slightly in places and i had powder coated white wheels on my zx6r.
Bugger to keep clean but look amazing.

Hi Gary, welcome, great looking bike, personally I think the black and gold R1's look awesome.
With regards to... 'And now I have a bumpy sensation from the rear'...try your local medical practitioner and they'll prescribe you the necessary cream. ;)

Welcome to the forum or mad house as the inmates call it. Well what a cracking opening post, and more info to boot and a pic of your bike...... She does look beautiful.

As you will already have guessed, we have a good sense of humour on here, tons of banter, and we all give as good as we get. The guys are very knowledgable and will always have an answer, it may not be the right answer, but it's an answer, and sometimes when peeps ask for advice, we can get some really off the wall thinking and actually we have found simple solutions to some really complex problems peeps have had, it's a bit like sometimes you can't see the wood fir the trees.

Anyway, join in, give as good as you get and enjoy the forum and your bike.

Oh and lastly, at the end of the day, it's your bike, you rider her, clean her and drule over here when you open the garage door, if white wheels float your boat and that's what you want .....go for it :)

Welcome

Stephen

Thanks Luke. Everywhere has its fair share of them. Thanks I do like the black/grey and gold look but just considering other colours for the wheels as they need re painting eventually anyway.
