Hi All, I am looking for a possible solution to my problematic R1.
Started the bike after a 6month rest in the garage, bike started ok but when warm revs went up to 3 thousand and stayed there. Any thoughts?
Regards
Curly

Welcome in bud
With all due respect this is the newbie section for you to come & introduce yourself , tell us a bit about yourself , your biking history & about your bike after introducing yourself the idea is then to go to the relevant section & ost your questions there , you've not eveven told us what model R1 you have so we don't know if its carbon or injection !
Did the bike run OK before you put it away ? , did you ride it much before you put it away I.e. could the fuel be more like a year old ?
You shouldn't have a problem with 6 month old fuel , have you messed about with the fuel system at all ?

Welcome to the forum curly , as monkey face ask cesar or Jompy says a bit about your biking history will help us to get to know you and vice versa, also a pic of your bike is also good in an introduction.
Saying that, you have an issue with your bike when she starts, could the throttle cable be sticking? Just a thought.
Good luck with getting it sorted, a bit more info on the model R1 you are talking about would help as if it's a 4c8 onwards they are fly by wire so my diagnosis wouldn't be appropriate ..... Anyway good luck, oh and I'm the least mechanically minded person on here
So welcome
Stephen

Really, if someone has little to add to a forum - why bother trying to make them conform to the general feeling of etiquette? They won't suddenly get a liking for the forum.
So - instead of doing that - why not give a couple of pointers? He's not asking for the solution to cold-fusion, so it's not like it will take much brainpower........
I'll guess at an injected bike and say it's a dirty llamda sensor, stuck throttle bodies, or sh!te fuel.
OR - Take the bike to a dealer.

Hi, apologies to all, I have written a small essay on here and posted it but it has disappeared, I will hopefully find it or I will re write.
For now, the bike is a 2003 R1 5pw. I have had it from new and it has covered approx 24,000 miles.
After a 6- 8 month lay off, fuel was drained and tank filled with fresh. Bike started ok, when cold the revs were approx 1500, when the bike reached temperature, 40 degrees, the revs increased to approx 3500. When the clutch lever was pulled in, the revs dropped slightly but when throttle opened, the revs increased.
Apologies once again
Thanking you all in anticipation.
Regards
Curly

As I know f**k-all I'd probably chuck some injector cleaner in and go and abuse it to see what happened

but someone with some actual knowledge should be along soon - good luck pal

I say if their first post is lacking info , very short or just crap then let them know & give them a chance & they might turn out to come across OK like this guy , but if they've been given a chance & still can't be arsed then like Luke says why should I ?
Curly sorry to hear your post vanished , I hate it when that happens !
nice second post
