My 4th R1
I had my 1st R1 in 2000 before it got nicked, then another in 2004 before some numpty pulled out on me, then another in 2006. After being stopped for speeding twice in a week, the R1 went and I returned to my true love of small 2T's (I have lots and lots of them). However my yearning for another R1 has finally been satisfied with a rather nice 4XV in white and red. Prices have seemed a little erratic and having seen a few good nick/no service history bikes that seemed to be track bikes wearing well stored original bodywork I took a punt on 27k mile full service history 3 owner bike. I'm waiting on the selling shop doing a used bike PDI before taking delivery just in time for the winter !!!!

Looks good, although you do realise it's the slower colour!
Quite a few 4xv owners here.

Re: My 4th R1
Welcome to the forum Phil cracking opening post and don’t listen to paul(Clarky) or Duncan (moise) ... we all know the red ones are fastest ... mind you my red R1’s weren’t fast... but I put that down to the rider rather than the bike
Welcome

Re: My 4th R1
Welcome in Phil
It'll keep up with you're RGV and you'll feel at home on it with that 2t like power and at 8-9000rpm but then you should remember that from your old 5jj .
Nice looking 99 4xv but the wheels aren't for me but then that's being really picky especially when you see my 4xv
Loads for you to read up on in here , enjoy the forum and the 4xv

Hi Phil and welcome to the forum as you have probably figured out by now they are a good bunch on here.
Love your new R1 - ive owned both a 4xv and your 3rd R1 5vy both brilliant bikes in their own way.

Re: My 4th R1
Fingers crossed the 4XV gets delivered Tuesday. I'll spend a bit of time to tidying it up, as I know there are a few things I want to change

For me, that's the pick of the bunch. Sure, yellow is a bit 'out there' for some, but that KR livery is timeless.

Nice 4XV Phil
And if you need the unobtanium rear mudguard reflector bracket then this guy on eBay is selling a limited run of replicas (the reflector is still available as far as I know and not yet listed as NLA)

Re: My 4th R1
Ordered a std. pipe, brand new mudguard and the reflector bit, and the revised (lower) temp sensor for the fan. Hopefully it will all arrive before weekend and I can fit everything. Just need the fkin rain to stop. No chance I live in Manchester
I also noticed a slight oil leak after I ran the bike up to temp. Will this most likely be the cr@ppy sensor ?
Looking forward to getting it out for a spin sooner rather than later.
As the bike has an Ohlins shock is this OE or did Yamaha have their own branded version on the 4XV ?

Let’s see a close up of the shock if it’s ohlins it’s not standard.mellorp23 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 10:58 am Ordered a std. pipe, brand new mudguard and the reflector bit, and the revised (lower) temp sensor for the fan. There's a few candidates for an oil leak under the engine. Can you see where the leak is?mellorp23 wrote: I also noticed a slight oil leak after I ran the bike up to temp. Will this most likely be the cr@ppy sensor ?

That's not the standard shock. You're lucky to find one of those!
