I have a 2003 R1 , I had an issue around 6 weeks ago , when I lost all power , I got the bike recovered to home , on the advice I had from twiggers in Loughborough , he advised me to replaced the battery if I was replacing the rectifier , I still ended up having charging issues , which only meant replacing the stator .
The stator assy won't come off , he's used heat and even used the correct tool from Yamaha ,.any ideas would help

Maybe hot and cold - difficult to explain but it involves heating up the unit then poring cold water over to shock it

How do you know it's the stator?

There have been members here who have removed rotors on the older R1's - hopefully one of them can help.

The bike is at twiggers in Loughborough , he tested the stator with the bike turned over and found it was the stator , he's tried all the tools he has , he's tried applying heat , but it still won't move , he even brought the tool Yamaha recommend.

Probably need to shock it.
The rotor is on a taper and located with a woodruff key.
You screw the puller bolt into the middle, hold the rotor still, either with a special tool or a strap wrench, tighten the puller bolt really tight then smack the end of the bolt hard with a deadblow hammer, try some heat /cold and repeat, it should pop off.

Hi
Thanks for all comments , would a cover off a 2004 fit a 2002 / 2003 model , as I'm finding it difficult to source a part second hand to suit mine , maybe it's because it was only out for 2 years .

Get it fucking hot then get it fucking cold soon straight after then repeat this process as many times as it takes. Try to apply the heat with the puller tight so its trying to pull the flywheel off as you heat. Keep giving it more pressure with the tool
