hello everyone! Recently bought a r1 02 5pw model and loved it right up until now! basically cutting a ling story short my gearbox is bolloxed 4th gear starting to engage/disengage under power not fuelling or electrical related as i know the feeling due to knackering my ktm this way!
So i have now gt no 4th gear alot of grinding noises and a crack just behind my front sprocket , can this area be welded or is it new case time?
Welcome to the forum, im not sure on the welding of that and not sure id like it welded if it were mine.
would you not be better sourcing another lump so you get gear box and lump good with just one outlay of ££££
Hellooooo ! Thanks for the replies Yeah was toying with the idea , the bike had 2nd gear amd 6th replaced in 2011 dont know if it would put pressure on the older gears ? Mine has only done 13000 miles rather find a case or bottom end , At least i know whats wrong with mine .

Thats the biggest downfall with the early R1 a toffee gearbox, had my 2001 rebuilt 2times

sorry to hear about your bad luck bud , i had my oil pump fail april time & it wrote off the complete engine so i feel your pain !
good look with sorting out the engine .
i've got a KTM don't think i'll have another
bad luck for the both of us then , yeah i got rid of my 450 seems ktm stands for keeps taking money my luck with bikes is sh!t or mayve the fact i hammer them too much

Ha Ha Ha your story sounds vaguely familiar
KTM Duke II various problems , last was engine rebuild at £1700 & it still jumps out of second gear lol
Welcome to the forum Craig, sorry to gear about your gearbox problems and the crack in your bottom. But welcome to the forum good sense if humour on here.
