Yeah i seemed to be in that mindframe when i bought the R6 looking back.

But i've got a lot of people to prove wrong, that i can hold on to my licence for more than a week this time  Probably a handfull of local traffic officers too, im sure they will be watching and waiting for me to follow me round for my first few runs.

And like i said earlier - if there was a next time i'd be lucky if i wasnt put in a cell so really thats enough motivation for me to wind the neck in instead of winding the throttle on as much :)

Welcome in Maz, you have a beautiful pair of yams there. If you are into carbon you need to speak to Pod, hash and Damo666. What they don't know about carbon bits ain't worth knowing.

You provided us with a good opening post  . Lots of peeps on here have varying degrees of experience and knowledge, the forum is very helpful. Remember the R1 will only go as fast as you tell it to, Locke is right they do bite and they bite hard, be gentle with her and she will reward you with many a happy hour in the saddle.... She is not like your R6, she is in a completely different league, you can't ring the throttle like you do on the R6 and survive.

Enjoy the forum and your new toy and good look with the extended retest...... And remember watch your speed, both on the test and afterwards.

Finally I've been using the same Yamaha dealer now fjr about 12 years, it's great when you are on first name terms with all the staff..... As I say enjoy the bike :P

Cheers for the carbon info, I'll be having a hunt through their posts ;).

I had a few shots of my mates 09 model, loved it every time! But yeah it's definitely a completely different bike! Looking forward to see how the traction control feels though

Welcome in mate..
I just wanna know how much you pay for your insurance?!
I'd say 'stay safe' like everyone else...obviously you're gonna nail it, who wouldn't..... just don't doing it near junctions.

In my mind, going on past prices I've paid for insurance, I think it's not too bad....but you lot will probably sh!te your pants when I tell you the figure haha.........drumroll please.........£800 tpf&t.

I'm £400 for the R6 so to be honest I'm not fussed about paying £800 for the R1.

It's the same price as I was quoted before my latest ban...when I got banned I kept the R6 insurance running so it was covered for theft while sitting in the garage, this gave me another years no claims bonus, which basically cancels out the ban so it's the same price as I would of been before. It might sound like a lot but when I think back, I paid £1400 for the first year on my R6 haha
