Re: Hi
PJC. Ok got off on the wrong foot. I wasn't asking for tips at the time and it felt like you were just belittling my achievements. I look, listen and learn from everything. Even when I was at the BSB they were letting off and braking at the line (which isn't half way down the track) I don't brake there because engine braking and head up scrubbed enough speed off for me to get in and round that corner. It may not be 100% right but it worked for me all day. Start again?

Re: Hi
And f**k, Simon! 9 posts and having a go at me already, guess its not just the long termers that get in on it. Let's see if you get a mutual hate for that like I did! Lol
Thanks for the info on sliders, I'm sure if I was told that I would've changed them. Let's see how long it takes for to find something else you can pick at, maybe you give me tips on body position. Yknow, whilst I'm riding your missus

Re: Hi
Guys this thread has run a little out of control, lets all start again and behave like adults.
We are all very enthusiastic when starting out on track and its not always easy being told whats wrong with a post when its in type as apposed face to face in words .
As said we all have a common link in our love for 2 wheels and a forum is a great place to share our passion.
weather a new member or old we are here for the same reasons and that should be enough to unite, it can be very frustrating reading posts that others put up if you dont agree with them but we should try and understand enthusiasm and whatever else drives the poster.
We are not here to fight so please guys lets just put it to bed now and move on

Nope I'm pretty sure I'll be alright tom because i've been winding you up and you're clearly a total tw@t (as I think has already been mentioned), you're getting sh!t because you kicked off with having a go at people who are actually decent blokes.

I agree with most of what you said Jeff, but I still blame Capitalismhash29 wrote:Guys this thread has run a little out of control, lets all start again and behave like adults.

No you're trying to wind me up. Really what you're doing is being a lemming. Following what everyone else is doing trying desperately to be accepted whilst hanging on the sidelines feeding on scraps. Calling me a tw@t won't wind me up, try something a little more inventive. Maybe another looking in the mirror line or calling my mum a hooker, something like that.
Ah I know, try googling decent put downs (I'll even help with the spelling you special little soldier)

I have no need to belittle anyone in life Tom its not my style.tomhubbard wrote:PJC. Ok got off on the wrong foot. So far as not asking for tips, no you didn't however it would be wrong of me not commenting on something that could cause an incident. Just to make you aware, I have done a bit racing, track day instruction paid and unpaid as well as pit b1tch for a few fast lads, one just so happened to be at Brands during the 12 years I lived down south so maybe I should have mentioned that first.

Its always great to hear a "New" rider trying to pick up tips from all around them, however I am not sure the relevance of the BSB quote, bare with me. They will be carrying 60-70mph more speed at the start line and be dropping gears as soon as they hit the retarders and of course turning in at speeds I could not envisage in my wildest dreams. Not defending but I believe this is what Simon was referring too, his comment on the sliders is something you may need to look into as all the track day companies I know do not allow sparky sliders not sure if its them or the track owners who drive that rule. It may have been changed but worth checking IMO

You may find my style on here a tad harsh or straight to the point, I may come across as big headed or a know it all, however be assured if I take the time to reply its done from knowledge learnt from over 30 years of riding. Its up to you what you do with what anyone offers on here of course.
Good to see you have got over I dont like to post on forums

Life is short bikes are fast lets hope that mix is a good one for you, remember fast bikes can shorten life

Think I will pop the kettle on

Tuck in behind me, i'll show you the best place to crash
Stopped drinking, smoking, taking drugs and running sex parties, luckily ive still bikes to corrupt me

Re: Hi
Nothing was said about them on the 3 I've done there but then it seems different every time. For instance the first company just checked if my leathers were zipped together. MSV almost didn't let me on because of a 5" gap at the front where the zip didn't meet. I wasn't going to take that chance again so paid £120 for a new zip to be fitted with a 2" gap at the front.
3rd trackday they didn't even check! I'll never intentionally do something to jeopardise my time on the track, they're just the sliders I've got.
I lost concentration on the left before clearways and went straight on across the grass, track and buried the front wheel in the gravel. The bike stayed upright so I left it there. I thought that would affect me on the next session but I just got my head down and carried on
I don't think I'm massively fussed about going mega fast. I just want to improve my skill and confidence and above all have a good time

Re: Hi
Tom enjoying your time in the saddle is what its all about. Some on here enjoy riding/wobbling around whilst others enjoy that nearly killed myself kinda ride.
A good mixture of ex racers new racers and track day virgins grace our boards and we are all lucky enough to have experienced riders to help out at track days with tuition and piss taking.
I for one have met some very decent guys at the track events we have done so far and have friends i have not even met yet through chatting on here, its a good social gathering and worth the time an effort to get to know folk.
Lots of people think a forum is for people with no friends in real life but they are plain deluded . i for one have a very good number of friends and have just made life richer by the guys i have got to know here.
Keep your eyes open for up coming events and get involved (never a dull moment)...
