Newbie from Kent

Post by huds78 »

Just though I`d say hello and introduce myself. I`ve just got myself 2001 5JJ which is my 1st R1 after years of GSXR`s. I bought it to replace my k1 750 track bike after trying an RSV mille and not liking when I took it on the GP track at brands last month.
I have a shopping list the length of my arm as the bike is completely standard at the moment but starting with a steering damper then track fairing. Hopefully I`ll have it ready for when the nice weather kicks in next year.

Hi and welcome to a forum loosely based upon balls in deep ravaging of all things fast and metallic, on track knee down chin up over exposure to vowels, crash landing rebuilding metal and sanity. Head scratching challenges of dogmatically learnt mechanical prowess, to poke a stick in the eye of the machine that says now sit down and repeat after me son...f**k 'em! Live, understand and deeply inhale all the sh!t they told us not to even look at, smile and say it's all okay mate give us a hug. Shout cry laugh and look out for each other, be the best and worst idiots and masters of nothing, but beautiful and ultimately an animal naivety and oneness, it's there, we're just digging with bare hands and blinkered eyes trying to find it. I am tortured by fools and that's why I hate the mirror so much, so walk the other way happy and deluded even though deep down I know I can't escape 'cos everywhere I go the universe and chums will always be in my head...that's if it exists at all.....we aRe 1.

......Lunch break over and back to the 'real' world that's been created for me.
My name is Pete. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride mate.

That`s my dilemma at the moment ?? I had 14yrs of road riding with near misses and dodging other road users then last year I sold my 10 plate GSXR with the view of only doing track days so I bought a k1 750 totally tracked it and bought a van. I managed to crash it in august so I bought an RSV to use but did not get on with the V-twin hence I`ve now got the R1. I`ve taxed and insured it for the moment and have been riding it about but I think it will end up being solely a track bike but having said that the gixxer is now rebuilt....
I`ll stick some pics up once I`ve uploaded them to photobucket in the meantime heres a little vid of me and my mate playing on Lydden hill, mines the white gsxr the camera is on him.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-KGZPFAoZw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Welcome in mate. Was a 1000 L0 you had? Nearly bought one of these before the R1 after my K8.

Welcome in Nathan, as pete so eloquently says, this is an awsome firum, ok I admit it I'm the one who cocks up the Vowles but hey, none of us are perfect.

Peeps on here very friendly, have a great sense of humour and we do quite often take the p!ss out of each other, but in reality, that helps us get through the day.

Enjoy your R1

No it was the 750 mate, I had 6 points on my license at the time and all the insurance companys laughed at me when I got quotes for the 1000 !! Now its clean the R1 is costing me £211 fully comp where as I was getting quotes of 2-3k for a 1000 back then even with 9yrs no claims !
