Just slippin around
Just slippin around
Don't have an R1 at the moment - that's about to change - but have had a couple of FZR1000s (Genesis and Foxeye). Current ride is a GSXR750K5 20th Anniversary which has to be one of the best all round sportbikes. OK, I'll get my coat.
Anyway, have an R1M on order and thought this would be a good place to exchange opinions as we begin to know more about them. Plenty of discussion on the American R1 forum but mostly hot air as nobody has ridden one.

Yep. Personal e-mail from Yamaha the day after I put £500 in my dealer's greasy palm.R1Clarky wrote:Welcome in mate, so has your order been confirmed then

Don't know how they allocated the 80 UK bikes or if it was first come first served.

Re: Just slippin around
Told the dealer I don't want it registered before March so I get the 15 plate. Anyway, won't get ridden before late April or early May unless we have a Spanish type spring.R1Clarky wrote:Sweet- the next few months are gonna drag like fook fer ya tho'- still look on the bright side, u've just joined the best 'R' forum in the world* so join in , enjoy the banter, & bike delivery day will soon arrive

Congratulations & welcome along. I've ordered the r1 not the m as mine is only for racing & track days. I also ordered mine for march 1st registration.

Some people have been bitching about the prices but here's a thought.
The RRP for a 1995 Foxeye was £8995 IIRC. Stick that number in an RPI inflation calculator and its £15444 in today's money. The new cooking R1 is £14999. Bargain.

Welcome in teego this is a much better forum than the w@nk one.... Oops there goes my spellin again I mean yank one
Congratulations on your R1M fella, unfortunately I was not so lucky. My dealer is trying to flog me the standard R1 but I'm really not too sure, I had set my heart on the M. Anyway performance wise, I have been speaking to someone in the industry who has had a stock R1, not the M on the dyno, it had two litres of fuel in it and it was making 198 bhp at the wheel add on an ackra, power commander and it will be over 200..... That's fooking impressive.
I know performance wise the R1 and the M are the same, but for me they are not, the M is the special one. My dealer reckons yamaha have done this to sell more R1's and if that's the case then Mr yamaha has really p!ssed me off.
Anyway enough rambellings, I'm very pleased for you
Unfortunately Damion has stolen my thunder today, the guys on here well colon especially, aka Locke not Lockie or Lovie nicknamed me Cilla .... Something to do with my introductory posts, he is no arse he is actually quite a decent bloke from North of the wall, that's hadrians wall not the ice wall in game of thrones..... Anyway I'm trying to say that you need a sense of humour on this site, just make sure you don't ruffel monkey faces feathers aks Jompy, actually that should read don't ruffel monkey faces fur.
We are like a big family on here, we help one and other and support one and other which is what makes this firum the best by a long way. Our members are very cleaver especially luke pete, cock and Jeff...... They will always have an answer for you but its not always for the question you asked
Oh and then we have our own carbon kings aka Damion and pod, Damion did have a three wheeled trike with a squeaky wheel when he was a kid, so we don't mess with him.
Anyway welcome to the mad house and a big bid congratulations on yiur R1M. Stick around and tell us all about it when she arrives
