Evening chaps,

Just thought I'd introduce myself first on the forums. Got referred to this place from my other R1-riding buddies having just ordered a 2007 R1. It's only polite to say hi before I start picking your brains and pillaging members for parts I'm based in the cotswolds, so holla at me if you're local.

Anyway, taking delivery of this stock 4C8 next weekend.





Current ride is a Simoncelli Rep 929 Blade - served me well over the last 6 years, so I'll be sad to see him go

Bought it as a Cat C back in 2009 when I was at my final year in uni. Largely stock. But it was a daily hack and lived outdoors. Commuting in london pretty much killed it so bits and pieces needed replacing. Galfer discs, HM Racing suspension rebuild & set up for fast B roads. Other odds and sods; PCIII, chinese levers and all that lark. Currently on a remus revolution ti.



Bit the bullet 3 years ago when I finally bought a place which had a garage and wanted to spruce the bike up.

Resprayed the tank to remove any dints and scuffs from 4 years of abuse

Being a honda, it's gone through 2 generators and 3 reg recs. I ended up fitting a shindingen MOSFET reg/rec 2 years ago and it's been fine. Electricals were a dog on the bike and I'm not that clever wiht a mutlimeter, despite being a nuclear engineer by trade! Bike's going to a mate who's planning on doing BEMSEE thunderbikes next year on it. He's got a 929, so at least with the decent cycle parts on my blade, it's a good base.

Thought that if i needed to commute to Bristol whilst having touring duties, I'd need something reliable and just as fun. I've hade about enough of Honda's shoddy electrics leaving me stranded! So it's a reluctant sale, but going to a guy who knows everything worth knowing about building race bikes!

I've read they're a decent bike and near bought one before the old R1, the look of the 5pw was the deciding factor tbh.
What's planed for the 4c8? R1mike is our resident flash tune guru if that takes your fancy?

I was looking around at 5VYs but the one I was tempted by was sold literally the day before I was due to put an offer down. 5PWs are very iconic and look mean in silver.

4300K HIDs - yes, debatable, but there are a lot of unlit roads I ride around the cotswolds, so will be handy

Exhaust is up for discussion. Looking to spend no more than £550. I've seen the Arrow Thunder, and especially like them in the Dark option. However, either my interpretation of the data sheets is incorrect, or the italians have poor translation. Tempted by the dark with carbon end caps, but the manual says that it's not to be used with the stock midpipe, i.e. decat only. Else, I'd have to go for the stainless end cap. I'm not too sure if other members have had any experience with Arrow, especially the carby tip.

I'd need the baffles however, because I don't want to upset my neighbours in the mornings! They can tolerate my loud music when I'm laying down guitar tracks, and composing on piano, but having an open piped Akra or Termi at 06:30 might be testing their tolerance!

I could raid the classifieds here I suppose, but I need to have a few more posts before I can reply to their threads.

I've got the yoshi try ovals on mine with de-cat pipe sounds spot on and not too loud, ant really makes the back end imo
Not sure if anyone has got the arrow but pjc has the carbon version of mine and de-cat which he's about to break !?

To make the 4C8 a proper bike I suggest you read a lot of whats on here or ask Damo me or others who have modified bikes

I've stickied the 4C8 sub-forum so that I can trawl through it. Already downloaded the service manuals so at least I'll know how to grease the EXUP valves and such.

I'll see how the bike rides first and dial the suspension for my weight and typical riding. But I won't mind any sort of can going for a sub £500 price. How many of you have been stung for VAT when ordering from the states? Yoshis look tempting. Akras are out of my price range. Anybody running mivvs? Keen to get some cans so that I can tinker with the bike before spring sets in.

It gives me something to do whilst my wrist is in a cast! Sods law, 10 years of riding sportsbikes and not a single accident... 18 months on mountain bikes doing enduro/downhill, I've been to A&E 3 times, last one requiring an op for my schaphoid fracture! Was quite surprised as to how cheap insurance was with mods declared!



As for rim tape, yeah, I'll probably remove that at some point... and fit black rim tape just for the lolz.

Are 5VY and 4C8 rims compatible? Granted I know the disc sizes are different. I just want a spare set of wheels so that I can have ones with my Sportsmarts/2CT/race scrubs or what not for track days and the default set shod with BT023s/PR3s for commuting. As part of the fireblade sale, my mate is offering to give me back my nearly new Dunlops.

Yeah the wheels are the same bud,
For nice cans sub £500 second hand is the way to go, I paid 350 for mine but they aren't road legal and don't have any db killers

5vy, 4c8 and 14 series rims are the same, 4c8 and 14 disks are inter changeable

Cans and decat are a good move flashtune or pc3/5 just as important

Oh stop crashing, trust me the older you get the longer it takes to recover

I will sell you lots of my bling as its going back to standard and then sold

Well, forum banter is forum banter! I usually find vehicle/model specific forums pretty ace... although saying that, I've been a long serving member on Bikechatforums, so my childish immature behaviour might surface every so often.

I tot welcome ,I got mivv decat on my 4c8 ,cheap enough some of the welds look a bit bird pooish but it all went together well with original headers and akra so end cans ,enjoy the forum

i know moise & myself have 4xv's but i have a stainless steel mivv and moise has a titainium mivv can & the quality is good !

Just put a silly offer on those yoshi carbons on ebay and it got accepted. Anyway, once I'm all sorted, I'll start my own 4C8 mod thread. Liking the stuff I'm seeing so far!
