Just put a silly offer on those yoshi carbons on ebay and it got accepted. Anyway, once I'm all sorted, I'll start my own 4C8 mod thread. Liking the stuff I'm seeing so far!

How much is silly ?

Well £350. Judging that I saw a few places in the states were selling SS ones for £550 new. It'll probably spruce up once I receive it and clean it up. But considering the rest of my bike has age related wear marks, I'm not too fussed.

Decat and PCV next probably - I need to stop spending temporarily since the insurance on my Celica is due next month. Hopefully cheaper this year despite more mods.

I need to look at PCJ's build thread and try to determine what stuff I need. But I made the offer a few nights ago before joining the forum, but I'd feel some sort of remorse if i scuffed up somebody else's mint items . As a matter of course, the first thing I do when I get new stuff is to scratch/mark or scuff them myself, so if somebody mongs it up, I don't feel too bad; so long as the function is retained.

This place already feels as homely as Celica-Club so

Decat is a must i would say,not really performance wise but the heat it kicks off is a joke and it will cook your right leg,it will sound a bit deeper and breath a bit better to boot,as for other mods it depends what you want from it,either useability or just downright performance or a balance of both,i went for performance mainly as i dont use it everday,there are pics of mine in the gallery somewhere that might give you a few pointers,oh and mine's the one wearing Akracraps as Wally sorry PJC pointed out

Good choice of model mate, I love mine, I have the yoshis as well and mated them to an akra decat , so that works well, believe me youll want rid of the standard midpipe wi the cat as it pushes out some heat, ive got rid o the ais system as well and got a pc111, she is a hairy assed rocket ship noo, oh and best mod is a -1 gearbox sprocket for the airborne antics alone

I tot welcome ,I got mivv decat on my 4c8 ,cheap enough some of the welds look a bit bird pooish but it all went together well with original headers and akra so end cans ,enjoy the forum

Saturday can't come soon enough! I've got all these bits to fit + the cans . I was pleasantly surprised how cheap my insurance was with the mods declared! £159 TPFT with bikesure!

Welcome to the forum Tot and I must congratulate you on a fantastic opening post, good pics, beautiful bikes and it appears that you now have the R1 bug, and boy does that bug bite. You have definitely come to the right place to talk mods and these guys know a hell of a lot about R1's. You mentioned in one of yiur earlier posts that you have ordered a scotoiler, I had one of those on a honda years ago and although I switched it off when I took the bike on track, oil still came out of it and me and the bike parted company, there was oil from the scotoiler on the rear wheel, so since then I just clean and lube the chain regularly, yes it's a pain, but it's less of a pain than coming off, so in my humble opinion, I really wouldn't fit it, but then that's just me.

The 4c8 is a really butiful R1 and its the best looking one to boot, it was a sad day when I got rid of mine, but hay, that one you have looks great.

Cheers Steve for your experience on the Scottoiler. I used to have Tutoro's simple drip feed solution on my ZX6R and Blade, until the reservoir cracked. I figured that 400-500 miles a week would me a LOAD of chain lubing faff every other evening. Worst comes to worst when I go on track would be just to whip the reservoir off! Saying that, I still have a bottle of parrafin to degrease the chain with.

Also ordered a Warrior Spider stand for the 4C8, so that'll help with general maintenance. Also, because I've switched allegiance to Yamaha now, this got delivered today!





I figured if I'm going to put carbon on the bike, I might as well get me some too!

Tot, up until recently I used to commute 360 miles a week plus with business mileage that could easily add another 200 miles a week, but the business miles wasn't every week. I would keep the chain cleaned and lubed every week, if it was raining or during winter salt on the road she woild be lubed and cleaned more. When I got home at night I would pop her on her rear paddock stand wipe the chain over with a rag, lube it, wipe it gently again to remove any excess lube and then let the lube melt into the warm chain, I found that worked best for me. Oh and I would give the bike a really good spray of scotoiler 365 protection spray, it's fantastic at neutralising road salt and helps to keep the bike looking good. This procedure only took a few minutes and the chain wasn't lubed every night, just once or twice a week.

Like the lid, there are a few guys on here who love carbon, Damion and pod are the carbon kings.

I also have a carbon lid, it's a rossi AGV pista in rossi elements graphics, must admit I love it it's so so light. Liking your lid

Looks like you're a fellow Alpinestars Tart then Steve! I pissed my student loan on a LOT of A* gear back in the day! Shame their quality has gone down compared to their italian made stuff back in the early noughties!

Anyway, warrior stand assembled tonight. Quick question though.



I gather it's a case of whipping off the LHS engine mounting bolt, threading the collar through the bolt, reinstalling and torquing up? Presume torque values are specified in the service manual under engine, or chassis?

Tot .... I love alpinestars , had four of their suits over the years and countless gloves and boots, also love dainese, had four of their sets as well. I find if you keep them clean they last so I really have no complaints at all.

I used to do the cotswolds bike nights on wedenesday until it clashed with hucking it with my mates on mountain bikes. Been Cassington the last few years, so that's usually a good time to look at bike porn... and hoon home via the back roads!
