newbiedoobiedoo
Hey guys. Have owned the 05 zx10r for last few years. Thought I'd go for something different for a little one and a cheap 4xv came up. Needs a little work so thought I'd come here for advice!
One question while I'm here, will the 5jj clocks fit straight on and work? Or do I need the specific 4xv clocks?
Cheers

Welcome in Ali
With a newbie thread title like that your gonna fit it well here
As for the clocks i believe they are a straight swap but i will confirm this in a mo , some European clocks are KPH only and can not be toggled between kph & mph but there is a fix quick fix for this that i found & have done , European clocks are usually cheaper !
the other year uk clock sets were going for £100 on Ebay but i have seen a couple of sets lately for around £50 .
If you look at the other newbie posts you'll find we're a nosey bunch on here
& we like to get to know the people that join , you'll find it's a friendly place , don't take anything to heart , have a laugh & find out loads of stuff in the 4xv & 5jj sections as the bikes share a lot of parts .
So if you'd like to post a little more about your biking history & a pic of your bikes that'd me great

Re: newbiedoobiedoo
4xv clocks part number are 4XV-83570-20-00
5jj is 5JJ-83500-51-00
it looks like its mainly the plastic outer casing that has been changes as i've got an old 5jj wiring loom & my old 4xv clocks connect into it perfectly but obviously i've not seen them running
i could always get Clarky to take a ride over here & swap them over & see

Thanks for the welcome guys. If I figure out how to post pics on mobile I'll stick em up. But for now imagine a 99 4vx from NI with a genuine (albeit very hard loosly maintained) 19,000 miles on it, with a matt black spray can paint job....
But I can tell she's a good bike just needs a bit of love and care. Will be getting a new paint job and fixing up all the little bits and she'll be like brand new.
Been riding for 11 hears now. Not afraid to say I'm usally always the quickest...
Previous bikes from the beginning:
Honda sfx50 (stolen twice)
Peugeot speedfight 50
Suzuki Marauder 125
Suzuki bandit 400 (streetfightered)
Honda vfr400 (crashed, repaired, stolen)
Honda hornet 600 (streetfightered)
Kawasaki zx10r 05 (nicely modded, had for 5 years)
Went to Australia for 4 years:
Suzuki gsxr1000 03 ( added a turbo)
Kawasaki z750 07
Kawasaki zx10r 05 (monster rep)
And now just bought this R1
(If someone tells me how to add pics from mobile I've got tons to throw up)
And yea if someone knows the definite answer to the clocks question would be great

Huzzah! I have tapatalk...
No I'm in Basingstoke, Hampshire, the bike is originally from NI though.
Had a bit if a strip down this afternoon of it. Can only assume the previous owner was a drunken baboon.....if a bolt want missing it was ridiculously loose or ridiculously rusty.....
But will be a fun project I'll put all the pics up in the projects thread in a mo. For now, here's a couple of pics of previous bikes:

07 z750 with custom paintwork

03 gsxr1000 when I got her

Turbo set up on her

Also had a yzf250 for one day before I swapped it for a....

Stupidly stupidly mad yzf450....was crazy

This was and always will be my baby. 05 ninja.

I ended up buying another one in Oz.....

My aussie crew. loved the ute!

Re: newbiedoobiedoo
Welcome to the forum Ali , some nice bikes yiu had there. Where in oz were you? I worked in Sydney for a while in 96 ... It's a beautiful country with great people.
you mentioned your R1 was owned by a baboon because all the nuts and bolts were either missing, loose or rusted..... He may well have been one of monkey faces relatives...... I think it's something to do with primate DNA in that they don't like fairings on their bikes so perhaps this baboon was hoping that they would just fall off ....... Sorry I know you won't get that joke, but monkey face, aka Jompy has an un-faired R1, and what's worse is that he paid good money for it in that state .... Mind you they say one is born every minute ...... And I think that goes for cilla as well as monkey face
Anyway, welcome to the forum, good luck with the rebuild, looking at the bikes you have had the R1 will end up looking great, as the guys have said start a project thread, we love projects on here.
Anyway welcome in
Cilla

Thanks peeps!
I lived in Mackay for while and then moved down to sunshine coast for the rest of my stay. Is such a great place. Will always miss it. But with family and better roads here I couldn't stay forever....
I started a thread in the projects section. Picking up a heap of new bits tonight so hopefully have some progress at the weekend!!!

I had the oportunity to go to live in Adelaide but couldn't move the family so stayed in Blighty. I made the right choice as I would have never met the bozos on this forum.... Maybe
