Welcome in Ric
No buying guide mate but somewhere there is a run down of the different models and if you look in the R1 section for each model there's a thread called "my *** is . . . . . " and there's some great replys . Have a look round bud there's tons of info on here
how about sharing a bit about your biking history ?
ohhh and what model you after ?

Just fancy moving up to a 1000. I'm looking for a 08 but I'm pretty fussy tbh but a mint low mileage one sounds up my street. What is it he's selling ?Damo666 wrote:Welcome in Ric oh and why the change to an R1depending on what model your after and how much you want to spend my mate is selling a mint low mileage R1.

Hi mate. I had a GSXR 600 and loved it to bits. The 4C8 might be more of your style as it's the last of the high end power R1s. I opted for the 14B, nice low down grunt, great soundtrack and to me the best looking (although the new model is growing on me). Don't rule out a K9 onwards GSXR 1000.

Welcome to the forum Ric, I trust you are tame
Good luck in your hunt for the perfect R1 as Jompy says there is loads of stuff in the different R1 sections. The 4c8 which Colin is referring to is a beautiful bike, whilst the 14b and 14be is somewhat of an acquired taste, well for some it is for others like Colin, Jeff and me they are fantastic.
Take your time, have a good look round and test ride the bikes you fancy.
Any questions you have just ask, the guys know a hell of a lot on here and are always happy to help, even though they don't work at asda,
Oh yiu will need a sense of humour, get to know us and give as good as you get, threads can and quite often do get hijacked but it's all in the spirit of fun, so make sure you join in.
So welcome to the mad house and very good luck in your hunt for your perfect R1
Stephen

Re: Hello R1 Forum
Its an 08 plate 4c8 in blue,3k on the clock or maybe even less,Dunlop Sportsmart tyres done around 800 miles or so,it has an ECU flash done by R1Mike (1 of this forum owners/moderators/Flashtune distributor) Akrapovic carbon slash cut pipes/de-cat pipe,PC111 with K&N air filter plus custom map, genuine Yamaha rear seat pod,ASV clutch and brake levers,Evotech tail tidy possibly more plus ALL standard stuff, but i aint seen it for over 12 months so could of missed a few bits, its in mint cond and i even considered buying it to swap all my bits over as its such low miles etc,if its something your interested in and want some pics/definate spec then let me know.theshrew wrote:Just fancy moving up to a 1000. It sounds nice but I'm looking for more of a std bike tbh that would probably be out of my price range anyway.Damo666 wrote:Its an 08 plate 4c8 in blue,3k on the clock or maybe even less,Dunlop Sportsmart tyres done around 800 miles or so,it has an ECU flash done by R1Mike (1 of this forum owners/moderators/Flashtune distributor) Akrapovic carbon slash cut pipes/de-cat pipe,PC111 with K&N air filter plus custom map, genuine Yamaha rear seat pod,ASV clutch and brake levers,Evotech tail tidy possibly more plus ALL standard stuff, but i aint seen it for over 12 months so could of missed a few bits, its in mint cond and i even considered buying it to swap all my bits over as its such low miles etc,if its something your interested in and want some pics/definate spec then let me know.theshrew wrote:Just fancy moving up to a 1000. Hello R1 Forum
Those are all mods you'd want to do to a 4c8. Probably cheaper than buying std and modding it.
Just my 2c worth. Welcome in BTW.

Re: Hello R1 Forum
Welcome shrew, the bike dammo is talking about would be a great buy if you could scrape the cash together, save lots on the upgraded parts that way..
