Hi all,
Just bought a 5jj R1 in blue, thought I'd best join this forum.
its my first litre so still getting used to the power but I love it already! Not sure what else people want to know, so if there is anything just ask.
Bob

Welcome to the club Bob! You'll get used to the inmates quickly enough!
Re: New member from Basingstoke
Pic will appear in due course, I don't have any yet.
I've had a licence for 2 years, first bike was a daytona 675, sold it last year to a friend then I bought a cbr600rr race bike to track, had a bit of cash laying around in the last few weeks so I bought an R1 (ebay number was 261790024119 if you want to see it)
I'm 29, male, enjoy long walks on the beach and open fires. My turn ons include manners, punctuality and long division.

Re: New member from Basingstoke
Recovered now... Mcn insurance also included breakdown recovery!!!
Erm when i rolled off the throttle it suddenly cut out then wouldn't start after a few really loud backfires I got it going only for it to cut out again 5 minutes late in the same situation. Ran the battery flat trying to start it.
Bike hasn't been used through winter and that's only the second time I've been on it. Thinking maybe shitty fuel? Manky carbs? was also thinking fuel pump as it cut out when I was idling so there was no fuel being pulled through
Still in love with the bike, the power is ridiculous

That must feel like you've moved to the other side of the world?! Yeh that would be rad, as long as I can get the thing working!Apsaegis wrote:Hi Bob.

i'm having a very similar problem with the KTM , it keeps cutting out & i think it's old fuel . it seems to be mixing with the new fuel ok but i get 6 miles out & it starts playing up , will restart but dies as i try to pull off ! i'm going to drain the tank & carb , add new fuel & pro fst

heres a little info on the stuff , my wife recommended it to me

I've pulled the fuel tap out the tank ( bloody dead spider on the filter ) , drained the carb & so far so good. , bloody thumpers . . . . . The rear light wouldn't work & the head light & clock lights kept going off ! Interesting ride homeBob wrote:Nice one geezers, I will get onto it asap. Doubt it'll be a massive fix

Hi Bib and welcome to the forum fella.
Sorry to hear the woes your having with the R1, i would suggest you give it a good nut n bolt clean through and change all fluids.
Grease at grease points and unplug all wire connectors/plugs and use a good water resistant spray after cleaning contacts and then replace
