Matt theres places that will sort your can for you , make it louder or shorter !
personally i think it's a shame to cut down such a nice original akra but i also feel they're too long
4 inchs shorter & this would be perfect

lol.
anyone had a problem fitting their trickle charger?
just gone to fit mine and the bolt isnt long enough to hit the threads when re fitting.with the trickle charger one, theres 3 attched to the bolt so its not long enough.
had to leave seat off and attach via the bulldog clips.

anyone bought a slightly longer bolt they can point me too please as i dont fancy fitting/removing seat every time.
ive been through all my spare bolts and theyre either slightly to thick or to narrow.

See if you have a local fixings supplier they'll probably give you two stainless bolts , I bought 10 m10's , m8's & m6's all with nylock nuts for about £4

yes i will do jompy,i assumed everyone would have had the same problem.
figured it would have been a common issue,as most go to fit their trickle charger.

battery was showing full anyway and went straight to maintenance mode.
guess im just paranoid after owning an aprilia, they wont even turn over without 14.0
drop to 12 or even 13 and they can have trouble, specialy with a crappy alarm fitted.
your looking at a new battery at least once a year, cos if it wears down, thats the sprag clutch fekd.

To be fair my 4xv has the same battery I bought it with 5 years ago , the last couple of years Jens taught me to bring the battery indoors in the winter rather than leaving it outside on the bike connected to an optimizer , put it on the bike the other week & it started fine , left it on & out in the cold & yesterday it was flat lol

lol bloody typical hey mate.you couldnt script it.
you have to uprate the aprilia batterys to higher cold cranking amps, theyre about £60 ffs.
seen batterys for the r1 for half that,so i wouldnt mind if i had to buy a new one lol.

you don't really have problems with batteries on the R1's until you get to the 4c8's & 14b's

You gotta love the early R1's

Well, the new gp can is on,came at 6pm as it was sent to the wifes work.
just had to fit it before my nightshift...as u do,to excited lol.looks and sounds great.
not silly loud but evil n howling.
new swingarm bobbins came too,so theyre on.
new paddock stands should be ere tomorrow as well as new bar end weights and just ordered new screen bolts.
all bits in black so that should rid her of all the blue anodised shoite!
just got to get the blue brake and clutch levers swapped for the o.e ones,is it straight forward?
not changed any in a while, seen a video on youtube on an sv650,looks simple enough unless the r1 is much harder?

Ill eventualy get some black pazzo or similar.

Shes coming together nicely how i want her.
should get the tail unit white r1 stickers tomorrow too,
finish it off nicely.

Got a crack in the tail unit on top just after the pillion seat which is bugging me now.
may have to go the chinky fairings route after summer, get her looking nice and o.e again.
is the 00 model black on the bottom and red tail end and the 99 model white tail end and belly?

Not sure about the colours bud but there is a thread in the R1 section that goes through all the info . As for levers they're so easy even a monkey could change them . . . . . . In fact he has ;) I can't recommend aftermarket decent leavers anough , always looked at after market leavers & thought yeah they're pretty but I'm not spending £120 on pretty but I've changed my mind since the wife bought me a pair of titax
