Newbie

Post by i_want_one_of_those »

Hi there Guys & Dolls

Just joined this forum so thought I'd introduce myself

Just bought an R1 5jj and hope to collect it in the week. Had four bikes, three were Yamaha's (DT125R, FZR400R and YZF750R) and the last went in 2000. Kept my kit as always wanted to buy back in and a couple of years ago was looking for a nice YZF750 in dark green like the one I had before. Anyway, saw a few ZX7R at a good price so researched them. Bought a 2000 ZX7R P5 and loved it. Problem with the engine meant either an expensive repair or do a ZX9R engine conversion. I took the later and the bike is great, 129bhp at the rear wheel and loads of torque.

Anyway, saw a really nice 5jj for sale and decided to buy it. Fell in love with the R1 when it was released as I had the YZF750 then and decided now is the time to get it........Similar power to my ZX899R conversion, but a lot less weight. Although it is the same age (2000), it is a completely different machine as much newer.

Anyway, hope to speak to some of you soon and may even see you out and about

Spence

Welcome in Spence
Cracking first post & you WILL love the 5jj they're a cracking bike with smooth usable power & then a mental hit ;)
First off before i forget again , check the white 20 pin main connector , i think its behind the front left hand fairing ( mine doesn't have a fairing & my memorys not what it used to be )
get the service manuals & micro fiches downloaded & remember they share alot of the parts of the 4xv inc frame , wheels & engine internals , wiring loom & ecu are different as is tank , seat & rear seat unit !
have fun reading through the forum theres loads of info & have your sense of humour with you & polished at all times ;)

Bike now collected!

Love it, same BHP as my old Ninja, but the 25kg less bulk makes sooo much difference...!

I would post a pic, but not sure how to.
