Picked my 4XV up today and I'm very happy with it. It's the first R1 that I have ridden on the road and I was surprised by the grunt from a 16 year old bike and it feels like it wants to power wheelie in 2nd gear. I'm in love

Glad your happy with it buddy , i have 5jj carbs on mine & i'm sure it's those that give it more midrange , you don't notice the 8-9000rpm hit as much but mmmmmm that midrange

I break the odd crashed 4XV or 5JJ from time to time so I might swap the carbs if I get a 5JJ. I need a few bits for this one to get it back to absolutely mint but I shouldn't have much difficulty finding the parts.

out of interest how much would you sell a decent 4xv tank for ?
If you get a set of carbs sat there it'd be worth a try buddy

Why not just rejet the 4xv carbs?

because the jets in both carbs looked the same bud & also if he's breaking bikes he'll have the carbs & can sell them after he's found out if they make any difference or not ;)

Correct I am nothing lost that way.

I normally sell tanks for around £50 but it all depends on the condition and paint job, the last one I had was a non standard colour track bike so although it wasn't damaged it was an odd colour.

I've never ridden a TLS but I gather that they are a bit more of a handful than the TLR. I have barely ridden my TL, I'd have to move 3 other bikes to get it out lol.
