Afternoon all, new member from Teesside...

Had my R1 since May first time I rode it properly was over the mountain section of the TT this year what a bike! I've alway wanted one since I was kid!

Before this I had a 2012 Fireblade witch I highsided.. After getting money together for a new bike and gagging to get back in the seat and didn't know what I wanted I thought about getting the bike iv wanted since I was a kid

So here she is
2000 R1 5JJ, 2 owners

Few extras fitted to it

Braided lines
Sprint steering damper
Harris exhaust hanger
Gold did chain
Gold renthal sprocke
14tooth front sprocket
When I got it it had Chrome wheels so I got those powdercoated white and wrapped in Pirelli diablo supercorsa sp

Welcome to the forum Peter, cracking first post, with pics too    and cracking R1   , she really does look beautiful and some nice mods to boot. Hope you weren't too badly hurt in your high side, I've. Only done that once and broke my wrist

Anyway, welcome to the forum, any questions just ask, we are a helpful if somewhat sarcastic bunch in here.

So welcome

Stephen

Looking forward to the project thread you will be starting, they always go down well on here.

Good job the bike was covered insurance wise, how much did the premium cost, if you don't mind me asking

Welcome in Peter
Thats a lovely 5jj wait till Einstien see's it but then he is biased
i'm not keen on white wheels but they've got to be better than chrome , i have my spa . . . . i mean i have Ginger Jon's spare white wheels on mine at the moment & can't wait till the tyres are dead & i can have my gold rims back on ;)
Also you may want to look at a nice set of aftermarket levers , i was never bothered until Jen acquired a set for me & now i wouldn't go back to standard .
heres the copy & paste bit for the new 4xv & 5jj owners
Those 5jj's are a lovely bike , they share a lot of parts with the 4xv like frame, wheels & engines are similar , things that are different are ECU , bodywork i.e. tank , fairing , seat unit & headlight also the radiator & wiring looms are different .
Make sure you look in the 4xv & 5jj sections .
Check the main 20pin white plug on the wiring loom that sits behind the left hand fairing to make sure its in good order & been greased as these can cause problems , the HT leads can break up when old where the plug cap screws on & cause misfire all you need to do is cut 5-10 mm off the end & screw the cap back on , also DON'T tighten the sump bolt up to 42nm its a lot less more like 15-20nm .
get the service manuals and parts micro fiches for both the 4xv & 5jj downloaded , use the online PDF link & down load the parts manuals from there .
http://www.partzilla.com can be helpful for online parts micro fiches for getting part numbers & checking prices in the states as theyre prices are cheaper or you could try https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/browser/ ... bike/yzfr1
enjoy :)
