Welcome in mate. If the bike has original cans replace them as soon as. Trust me money well spent! Depends what skill level you are and how you ride i.e. road or track. For the more serious riders suspension mods is a must. For average riders have a look into FlashTune as it smooths out the throttle amongst other things. I myself have have learnt to ride around the snatchy throttle but I'm looking for a decat so will need the fuelling sorted out at some point. I love my 14B but others hate them. IMO pros are looks, sound, character, engine braking, low down grunt and riding position. Cons are heavy bike, thirsty (don't trust the fuel light!) and riding around town can be a chore. Don't listen to the haters who will tell you the best mod is a 4C8! Keep an eye on your battery as they can cause starting issues if not fully charged. ;)

Welcome to the forum Karl, and listen to Colin, aka Locke he is spot on. I'm on my third banger, aka Big Bang R1 or as the banger haters call them, sausages .... Banger sausage, yeah you get it and it just about sums up the mad sense of humour on here, but hay hoe

The soundtrack on the bangers is awsome and intoxicating and whilst they are a bit of a big girl and need to be manhandled into corners once they are mastered they are a very rewarding bike to ride :D

Enjoy yours, oh and to post pics see link below

Thanks for the advice.
She's already had a few mods. She currently has a set of carbon akras, Harris (I think) rear sets, PC5, R&G tail tidy with intergrated led rear light and flush mounted indicators. My skill level is probably "not as good as I think" I don't, or haven't as yet done any track days so I'll probably leave the suspension as standard. I've been down the mod road with my current Aprilia, I've spent thousands on her upgrading almost everything. Now I feel like I need to keep her forever as I've put so much in.
I'm only planning on keeping the R1 18 months or so then swapping her in for a 1299 panigale tricolore so apart from routine maintenance and servicing, I'll keep her as she is.

Hope you get a good test ride on the Ducati. I test rode the 899 and couldn't gel with it and my mate bought a 899 and hates it. Beautiful bike though.

Ive ridden an 899 and loved it, it felt a little small at first but something I think I'd quickly become used too. Like I say though that's a couple of years away and who knows what will happen in the mean time. For now through I'm looking forward to my new R1. Although the weather is looking likely to be complete sh!te.
