New R1 owner!

Post by Tino »

Hi everyone,

Just upgraded to a 2015 R1 from an s1000rr!! Have only ridden a handful of times but initial impressions are that its awesome! Has the much missing "soul" from the bmw, the engine just sounds great.

Have already put on some techspec snakeskin tank pads which look really good. Just waiting for the glue to dry before I test them out properly though.

Other things on the shopping list are some r&g protection, some kind of double bubble screen for track work and I'd like to grab a cheap rear seat cowl (in blue if anyone's got one please!!)

Might look at the front brakes too. The Brembos on my old bike were immense, have to look into options, calipers and pads etc...

Any "must do" mods, feel free to gimme a shout

Tino

Got them from speedycom. Rang up and spoke to them to make sure I was getting the right ones. They were very helpful and came in a little over £70. The only others I found were from the US which were more expensive.

Took my time fitting then, watched lots of YouTube vids! I like the fact they look kinda standard, no garish colours etc.

Gotta wait till February to see how they work out on the track :-(

Cheers Sam. Don't know why but years of bike shows has kinda put me off powerbronze. It's the bolt on look that I'm trying to stay away from to be honest. If only the official stuff wasn't so £££££££!! Haha

FlashTune to derestrict it and smooth out the throttle/engine braking, Blipper for clutchless downshifting, and if you are taking it trackdaying then the FT race team packages to refine the TC/SCS/LIF settings.

PM me or go to the sponsors section and VeloxRacing if you want to chat ;)

Ano aw about that list lol, ive just bought a flashtune cable of Mike at Velox , ive got the Arrow decat and pipe on mine, way to loud for tracks apparently, not that mine will be goin on a track, sounds like aural sex lol, ive put on shorty levers, evotech tail tidy and rad guards, Yamaha gen seat cowl, and crash bungs, it was aw goin so well till the gearbox thing came up, still im no gonnae let that spoil ma fun, its an awesome bike, I ken what you mean about the s1000 missing some soul compared wi it, great bikes but remind me of a Honda tbh haha :D enjoy your new bike, only thing that is a must is a nice looking exhaust and decat and an exup eliminatoe which if you get the FT cable fae Mike you wont need tae get.
Do not confuse my personality with my attitude. My personality is who I am. My attitude depends on who you are............

Haha, problem is mate that I've got a trip booked to Cartegena next year that I need to be quiet-ish for!! Otherwise I'd definitely get an exhaust that spits flames!!

I need the seat cowl too, and maybe levers. What brand did you go with for the levers? The Gilles ones are a bit pricey
