Re: Newbie in Norfolk !
Welcome to the forum Tim, that's a beautiful 5jj you have there. It's always good to get a new member with mechanical knowledge as sometimes they can hold the key to solving a problem someone has.
Anyway, tell us a bit more about your biking history, we are a somewhat nosey bunch on here and we love getting to know new members. We are a helpful bunch and partake in a lot of good humoured p!ss taking , so join in the banter and have a laugh, enjoy the forum and your 5jj
Welcome
Stephen

Re: Newbie in Norfolk !
@ Steve R1, started my biking career in the Army on the old Armstrong 350's, then after the forces, my 1st road bike was a Honda VFR400. Then moved up to a ZXR750J2, then onto a GSXR750. I then had a break, after a few years needed another bike, so i bought a CBR900RRS, abasaloutly loved this bike and had her for 5 years, spent alot of time and money on her and she was immaculate, but i alwatys wanted an early R1.
Then my one came along, had her for a year now and have no intention of upgrading, she ticks all boxes !
And to the rest of you Guys, many thanks for the warm welcome, hopefully i can be some use to some of you

Apart from when a track day is booked at Snetterton, then you will see a extension to the River Wensum down the pitlane

Re: Newbie in Norfolk !
Welcome in Tim
Looks like you've settled in already
a few bits on the 5jj . . . .
" Those 5jj's are a lovely bike , they share a lot of parts with the 4xv like frame, wheels & engines are similar , things that are different are ECU , bodywork i.e. tank , fairing , seat unit & headlight also the radiator & wiring looms are different .
Make sure you look in the 4xv & 5jj sections .
Check the main 20pin white plug on the wiring loom that sits behind the left hand fairing to make sure its in good order & been greased as these can cause problems , the HT leads can break up when old where the plug cap screws on & cause misfire all you need to do is cut 5-10 mm off the end & screw the cap back on , also DON'T tighten the sump bolt up to 42nm its a lot less more like 15-20nm .
get the service manuals and parts micro fiches for both the 4xv & 5jj downloaded , use the online PDF link & down load the parts manuals from there .
http://www.partzilla.com can be helpful for online parts micro fiches for getting part numbers & checking prices in the states as theyre prices are cheaper or you could try https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/browser/ ... bike/yzfr1
enjoy
"
And to post pics
"get yourself a free photobucket account & follow the idiots guide to posting pics from your pc
posting.php?mode=reply&f=6&t=10659
if you don't want to open a photobucket account then an alternative is go to
http://tinypic.com/
1 - "choose file" and browse to the image you wish to upload from your PC
2 - In the "resize" drop down choose either 15" or 17" screen (15 is enough and fast too)
3 - Press "upload now" where it will ask you to type in a couple of words to confirm you are a human being and not an automated program.
4 - Once done copy the text from the "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" field
5 - Then just paste it exactly as is in to your message.
or you can post direct from your not so smart phone using tapawank (tapatalk) it's great for posting pic's & notifications but wank for viewing the forum

Re: Newbie in Norfolk !
Hi Tim and welcome. I also live in Norfolk and I live 10 minutes from Snetterton. That's a nice looking 5jj you have there, I had a red 5JJ that I got rid of to buy my 4C8 and I wish I'd of kept it now!
