Re: Hi
A bit about me? Ok im 32 been riding since i can remember, got myself a honda rvf nc35 11 years ago and that has been my love. Finally egged on by my two brothers (who both ride suzukis) to get a faster bike i opted for the R1 5vy. I love the look of this bike and the feel and the power is awsome. I bought the bike privately last sunday from a guy in bath. I live in kent so it was a bit of a trek, 4 odd hours each way. I got her home and then sunday evening took it for a blast. Was loving it until all of a sudden the bike got really hot and had a terrable rattle! Checked the oil window and it was boiling. Have let a mechanic listen to it and as u can guess its bad. New engine required. Sob Sob. Spoke to the bloke who sold it to me and basically im on my own. Do any of you guys recon its worth stripping down or if not im on the lookout for a new motor. So in all my initiation into the R1 way of life is off to a rough start. Well thats me happy to meet u all.

Re: Hi
sh!t luck buddy but you'll love it once you get it sorted
i think its around £1500 for a refresh and then you have replacement parts if it needs any .

there was also a couple of engines from fazers that are supposed to fit but they're de-tuned R1 engines

Re: Hi
Welcome in Matt. Sorry to hear about your troubles.
Just out of interest, how hot did the bike get? Was there no coolant? Did the fans not cut in? What's the mileage? And is the a regular service history?
