newbie from Cumbria with 4xv

Post by BrogsOldNail »

Hi folks just got myself a blue 1998 R1 as a second bike. Gonna try and get it tidied up over the winter and see if I can get her feeling fresh again. Only had it out for a couple of rides and it doesn't feel to bad for its age so gonna try and get a few miles done on it before summers over. This is my second R1 as I had a 2008 model back in 2009 and my current main bike is a new zx10r. Also if anyone can tell me what colour the wheels should be on a blue 1998 model that would be much appreciated :D

Welcome mate, there's quite a few 4xv owners here. Despite their age, I think they are still a great road bike.

Here's a photo of mine with black wheels:. viewtopic.php?t=14195" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

When, I bought it, the plan was to put it back to standard. But I quite like the look with the frame protectors and black wheels now.

I'd suggest fitting some crash bungs. Saved my bike from a lot of damage when a car driver knocked me off it earlier this year.

Does look good. Im taking my spare wheels to get done in a couple of weeks so will have to decide if im gonna do a fresh coat of black or try and get them the right silver/grey. Also getting some HEL braided lines on it this week and sticking some part worn metzeler racetecs on off my zx10r as the tyres on it look a bit old
