New guy needing help lol
Hi guys totally new to the forum and after a bit of advice I've got a 2000 r1 and over the last few weeks every now and then I'm struggling to select 6th gear at high rmp I'm having to use a lot of pressure and I seem to get a double click as it goes in 6th but at low rmp in under 6000 rmp it's fine ?

Re: New guy needing help lol
Hi ya thanks for the reply I done oil change and filters with chain and sprockets and rear wheel bearings about 4 months ago now. But this problem has only been for the last 3 weeks . No clutch problems at all but I have just got clutch gasket so I can inspect the clutch.

Re: New guy needing help lol
logic would suggest either clutch or gearbox issue however from what i've read/heard about most common gearbox issues are jumping out of gear usually 2nd - i'd start with checking clutch like your planning

Welcome to the forum Jason, sorry but I'm useless at anything mechanical so I'm absolutely no help.
Did you know that if you take the first letter of the months of July through to November it spells Jason, sadly the first letters of the months December to June don't spell Stephen , oh hum....ill get my coat
Anyway welcome to the mad house and good luck in sorting out your 6th gear

High, welcome to the forum.
I doubt it's a clutch issue as you should be able to seemlesly change up to sixth without the clutch anyway.
Maybe the new chain has stretched a little, although I doubt that would only affect sixth...no harm in checking though.
Does more likely sound like a selector issue.

Welcome in Jason
Have you tried shifting in to sixth without the clutch ?
Could your chain be too tight ?
It could be a selector problem .
Although it's an engine out job if you had to change sixth it's not the end of the world , a few of the guys have had to change gearbox parts .

I thought that I'd posted a comment but others have said it anyway. Is 2nd OK?
