Welcome to the forum Mike, there is nothing wrong with a mid life crisis if it involves bikes, and in particular Yamaha's. Indeed some members on here have been so badly affected by their mid life crisis they bought a BMW  or a Honda   ,

Seriously bikes are bikes irrespective of the manufacturer . This is a great forum, any questions just ask.

So how long have you been riding? Is this your first bike? What do you like about it? And what's not so good..... I guess the immobiliser is the top if the list.

Welcome

Stephen :D

Thanks Steve R1

First bike as my wifes friend was selling his... so I went and had a look (Oct 15), sat on it and boom, I bought it! Love the bike but as you say the immoboliser is priority as I cant get the thing started. When It works I cannot do the bike justice yet as fairly New. Not been out with any one else yet as conscious I would hold them up, but I'm hoping that will change this year!

Hi mate & welcome in.
Nothing wrong with a mid-lifey so long as you're old enough! Soon develops into true love ;)

Depends what you like and how you like to ride. A lot of the folk on here prefer them on track, some on road, some have both (lucky gits)!

Hi and welcome Mikey, from a fellow R6 owner [emoji3]

Cracking bike, you'll be happy with her for a while I'm sure.

Great bunch of guys on here, regardless of whether you own a R1 or R6, or as Horus says - both.

Mike one tip if I may, whenever you are riding with anyone else ride at your own pace not theirs, there is always someone faster than you and you will be faster than someone else, but the thing is always ride within your comfort zone, faster riders will pull over and happily wait fir a rider who isn't as fast as them.

Also on here we have guys who race, they have booked themselves into the novice group on trackdays so they can coach new trackday member son here or like me someone who needs that extra bit of confidence...... I explained to one of them about a junction I negotiated daily on my commute to work, I had struggled with it fir years, I talked Pete through it and he said, turn in later, you are turning in too early, well the next time I did just that and hay...... it worked :D , so I guess what I'm saying, irrespective of how long we have been riding we are all still learning.

Oh and regarding the R6, you sat on her an dthat wa sit, love at first sight, well the Sam happened to me on a Honda  , for six years I also ran an R6 alongside my R1, both fantastic bikes but for different reasons, yes the R1 had the power, you couldn't use it as a twist and go, but it was a heavy bike and had to be muscelled into the corners, the R6 needed to be revved, was light and flickable and like the R1 it wa a real hoot to ride....... then in 2015 Yamaha's brought a new R1 out, they took the bets bits of the R6 an dthe R1 and managed to put the most together into an amazing bike ..... :D

Enjoy your R6 it is a cracking machine, and a 600 in the hand she of a competent rider will always be faster than a litre bike in the hands of a mediocre rider

Enjoy :D

Stephen

Regarding your aviator, you need to resize the image, if you can send me the image via a pm I will do it for you, but it would have to be this evening :D

I did the IAM motorcycle course and also bike safe London and some training with Lancashire and Cheshire police, it's well worth it and could save your life .

It's easy to attach photos using Tapatalk, otherwise you have to host them in photobucket and copy the link into the pm

Welcome in mate. Your confidence will come and as Steve says only ride to your limit. I loved my GSXR600 when I had it, it makes me laugh when non bikers say to you 'it's only a 600!' if only the knew how quick they are.
