New 5PW owner from plymouth

Post by Shocking_Hocking »

Hi
I'm Matt AKA Shocking Hocking. 31 from Plymouth and just bought my first R1 (well I pick it up Saturday morn!) I've been riding less than a year and my previous starter bike was a 1999 CBR600FX which has been an awesome first bike but as my first year is nearly up I finally got my poster bike.

Loved motorbikes for as long as I can remember and always been addicted to speed and adrenaline. When I was 17 I owned a Cagiva Roadster and soon upgraded that to a Ltd ed lucky strike Cagiva Mito evo. I had to get a car licence though as I needed it for work. So as you do I got into cars and in the past I have owned 2 honda preludes (one heavily modified), a 400hp R33 skyline GTST and a 370hp torque monster of a BMW 535d. Now currently own a Peugeot Expert Van (oh how times have changed!!) that I currently drive like an eco warrior.

I have a few thing already in my eBay watching listing ready to buy when ready
Power commander 5
Dynojet quick shifter
Exup delete pipe
Some Carbon bits
Rearset
Ohlins steering damper

No doubt this list will grow more and more over time

I have a questions though
The Dynojet quickshiter. I plan on buying the one that links to the PC5. Which shift rod will I need?
Also anyone got a link for the Resistor to put in the EXUP plug?

My R1 is a 2002 5PW 15k miles with a Akro Slip on, Brembo master cylinders, Goodridge lines, steering damper, wavy discs painted the 2004 Rossi colours. ImageImageImageImageImage

Welcome to the forum Matt, we have something in common, my first bike was a Honda CBR 600 and I also had a Honda prelude in 1989..... I guess that's where the similarities end

Welcom eto the forum and thank you for a first class opening post    , with pics too    ..... perfect....

You have come to the right place to find out about R1' Sandi the guys on here are very knowledgable and helpful.

Anyway welcome, join in the banter and have a laugh

Stephen :D

Welcome in Matt
Great first post , not that I know about power commanders but just make sure it's the 5 you want & not the 3 ( someone will correct me ;) )
The 5pw should move a tad quicker than the CBR , enjoy ;)

Welcome in mate
You'll struggle to find a 5 for that as most would've bought the 3 still you can get a qs tho, sprint damper you have on is a decent bit of kit the 5pw is pretty planted anyway best upgrade for that imo is a decent shock

Thanks for the welcome.
Looks like my Xmas has came early thanks to mr Tax man. I've been refunded a nice some from a few years back so definitely looking at Exup Delete first. Just need to know exactly what resistor I need as where I'm currently working Maplins is just down the road from me
From what I can gather I need a 10ohm 0.25w resistor. Can anyone clarify this? I've seen the pipe so that'll be bought once I get this nice fat cheque through [emoji12]
