Hi from the Cotswolds
I was on the old forum that crashed years ago ,fred in the cotswolds bought a cat d crashed 4c8 for £1300 with 4000miles on it ,some picknicker`s pulled out a field onto the road as the lad was going into a left hander about 70mph ,so left hand clip on ,pegs ect ect fairing ect ,got it back on the road for £200 ,sold the phase one fairing for £50 to buy the bikini fairing section as one headlight in winter was crap, gutted the standard silencers and made race 2 1/2" baffles, gutted the cat and sent the ecu of for a standard velox flash , now on 36000 miles ,then started noticing a ticking ,thought it was the cct ,but after doing a leak down test and checking valve clearances ,that i checked at 28k ,#4 pot was no gap on #7 inlet ,so head off and investigate time ,valve worn + guide ,what image hosting sites are people using ,i`ve just gone to post image site and it looks like its in the 1980`s font ,buckets gone to the dogs as we all know

Re: Hi from the Cotswolds
Welcome (back) to the forum. I've been using Postimage.org - nothing flash but does the job.
There's someone with a similar problem on the US R1 forum - worn valve guide. Some of the posts are a bit confused, but might be worth a look.

Welcome back Fred
So you've not done many miles on the 4c8 then
Hope you enjoy the new forum , the old one was good but this seems more of a community .
I'm also using postimage too

Hi, welcome.
How is the fuelling? Running weak can make them run hot and burn the valves out over time. What did the other valves look like?
