New to forum but not R1s
Hi All
Thought you may find my bike of interest as it’s several R1s in one.
Frame is a 99 with a 03 subframe
03 engine with 99 head and carbs
99 wiring with 08 clocks
05 wheels with 99 rear swing arm
08 front forks and brakes
Down hill mountain push bike straight bars.
Some people ask me why?
Answer: Because I can.

Re: New to forum but not R1s
Welcome to the forum mate, we all like to personalise our bikes, so whatever you like goes on here.... monkey face ... aka Jompy .... doesn’t like fairings on his R1.... but it’s still an R1.... even if it’s been mixed as much as he has done...
So welcome and put up some pics of your bike... we love pics in here
Welcome

Hi and welcome - bike sounds great, pics please.
Sounds like you have done some work on this one - like the idea of 03 lump with 99 head and carbs on.

Welcome Tom! Quite the mix on your bike, but if that’s what blows your skirt up, have at it. Enjoy the forum and post up more details about putting together this conglomeration of R1 mastery.

It’s a good looking Halfone that I can see Jompy dribbling and planning changes already

During my Tesco induction I filled out some paperwork wrong. Oops. When they asked what happened I said it was the language barrier and I didn’t understand the instructions. The instructors had to take a few minutes to stop laughing.

Still running the #17.5’s it needs less choke to fire her up but seams to run better than the 15’sjompy wrote: Thu Jul 26, 2018 11:22 am Looks sweet that![]()
You got #15 pilot jets instead of the #17.5's ?![]()
New carb rebuild kits made a massive difference.
She fairly standard except the usual mods of KN filter, serpent micron system with a Ese fitted. 148.2 bhp at the rear wheel, so not bad for an old’n

Thanks for the kind comments Gents, another forum wasn’t so keen on streetfighters as they believe they are nothing more than a crashed bikes put back on the road cheaply.

Mine was from the evidence i've seenR1streetfighter wrote: Thu Jul 26, 2018 7:37 pm Thanks for the kind comments Gents, another forum wasn’t so keen on streetfighters as they believe they are nothing more than a crashed bikes put back on the road cheaply.

Then again i'd have streetfightered it anyway

The #15 pilot jets give a much better midrange as i found out when i had a 5jj engine fitted and i had to swap back to the 4xv carbs due to dropping a cut off of wire down the 5jj carbs and using a hoover to get it out

148 at the back wheel ?

I look forward to reading more about the bike , so glad you've started a thread in the projects section ,we do love a good project with lots of pictures

I've read that those exhausts are pretty good.R1streetfighter wrote:Still running the #17.5’s it needs less choke to fire her up but seams to run better than the 15’sjompy wrote: Thu Jul 26, 2018 11:22 am Looks sweet that![]()

So all you've done to the carbs is fit a rebuild kit? No rejetting for the filter and exhaust?
I've fitted #15 pilots to my 4xv and they made a big difference. But then the float needle valves we're replaced at the same time, so I'm sure that helped also.

Moise I was going to give him a couple of days before I get started. You know you’ve just lost your best mate Jompster cos you’ve got a fairing! And he hasn’t.Moise wrote: Fri Jul 27, 2018 6:00 pmWon't stop us taking the piss thoughR1streetfighter wrote:Thanks for the kind comments Gents, another forum wasn’t so keen on streetfighters as they believe they are nothing more than a crashed bikes put back on the road cheaply.![]()

I’m picking from some of the comments whizzing around on this thread that there’s only two Real men on here.

The main jets have been changed but here’s the funny bit, they are the same size main jet but made by Dyno jet. Why that should make a difference I don’t know but just to confirm we ran her back up with OEM jets and lost 6 bhp.Moise wrote: Fri Jul 27, 2018 6:11 pmI've read that those exhausts are pretty good.R1streetfighter wrote:Still running the #17.5’s it needs less choke to fire her up but seams to run better than the 15’sjompy wrote: Thu Jul 26, 2018 11:22 am Looks sweet that![]()

She is a standard motor except the afore mentioned mods.
My old 4xv only made 120bhp, must have been a Friday one

Re: New to forum but not R1s
That's because Dynojet sizes are different. According to them, Mikuni are about 5 points richer, so you've gone leaner than stock. Interesting.R1streetfighter wrote:The main jets have been changed but here’s the funny bit, they are the same size main jet but made by Dyno jet.
