Just here to say hello, as i am having problems with the headlights on my old 2001 R1.
I don't know if its bad skills to post a hello here so i can then ask a specific question on the R1 forum, but hopefully not it wont be considered too mercenary..
if so then my humblest apologies.

Re: hi all
Hi and welcome Nat. Polar mentioned a Wurth product which works well but I had trouble with the dreaded white block under the left fairing but it was only when I used Deoxit D5 that my problems were finally sorted. It is expensive but seriously effective. Hope your problem is sorted soon if not already done.

Re: hi all
Hi ya Nat and welcome to the forum, great bunch of lads on here who will be willing to help.
As Rednine says the big white connector nsf is a nightmare and so is every other connector to be honest.
The wiring on these early R1s was not really up to the job when new and now 20 years on it gives many different problems.
The connectors can look fine but even to smallest microscopic corrosion can cause voltage drop x that by each connector and you have gremlins. My charging was down and everything looked fine but it wasnt until i went through every connector with Wurth contact cleaner i managed to sort it. Its an acid suspended in dielectric grease = good stuff but i have been told Deoxit D5 is better?
Stripp it down and go though every connector with the stuff twice!

Re: hi all
Same experience for me. Kept losing power to the clocks, and I was about to wire a new connector to replace the big white one when I tried Deoxit. I treat the connector with it once a year after winter now, and problem solved.Rednine wrote:Hi and welcome Nat.
