Hi
Hi
Hi all. Just joined. I wanted to ask a brief q. Wondered what coolant people use please? I was looking at handbook and says 50/50 ethyl glycol whatever that is. I saw motul motocool looking around but looking for something cheaper in a larger quantity that is safe for R1 2005 engine.
Thanks a mill.

Re: Hi
Any OAT ready mix or concentate will do . . . . . . . i know this already but like a muppet earlier in the year i went to a bike shop and paid £20 for 2 litres of ready mix for bikes
And i did this with one of the guys on the phone telling me just to buy an OAT generic brand . . . . . which i knew already , talk about throwing money away
BTW welcome to the mad house

Re: Hi
I'll break ranks slightly on this one.
I'd agree with not wasting money on premium stuff, but if you have green coolant, the safest bet is to buy a long-life green coolant, or HOAT (hybrid OAT).
Yes, you can change to an OAT but flush all of the old stuff out first.

Re: Hi
I personally use Motul MotoCool in my trackbike, with a bottle of MoCool in as this helps run the engine cooler (like Waterwetter)

Re: Hi
Thanks for all the replies folks..I was looking at that Halfords stuff but the label on the bottle carries big warning of don't get it wrong so thought I had better ask people who know first!
Thanks

Re: Hi
Yes, you certainly don't want to mix OAT coolant with the old school green stuff. OAT is usually red or orange but not all manufacturers follow that convention.philyam wrote:Thanks for all the replies folks..I was looking at that Halfords stuff but the label on the bottle carries big warning of don't get it wrong so thought I had better ask people who know first!

Re: Hi
Welcome to the forum... I’ve been silent on this thread... because all this water and oats stuff.... to me... that’s porridge to me...
I’m as technical as a squirrel.... actually... I’m insulting squirrels... sorry...
Welcome anyway and enjoy your water and oat... I must admit I like to add raisins to my porridge.... but I don’t think they will go well in the R1 [emoji4][emoji1303][emoji23]
